I'm extremely keen to see if the LaFerrari really accomplishes it's claimed performance figures. 0-300 in <15 seconds in insane!

Talking about the Porsche 918, I wonder whether ditching the hybrid drivetrain and instead aim for a sub-tonne kerb weight with just the petrol engine would have drummed up more attention. Using the batteries alone gives it a range of 25 miles at a top speed of 160kmph, or an additional 279bhp. For the added weight and complexity, I wonder if it's really worth the trouble. Still keen on seeing how it does against the competition though.

hybrid hypercars makes no sense to me.

It adds 150kg to LF. Without the Ker system the LF would weigh 1230kg. Better off adding a pair of turbos or supercharger to the v12.

The 918 weighs 1700kg, carrera gt weighed 1400kg. The 918 only generated 600hp+ na without the hybrid part. It is grossly behind in HP race with p1 and lf. LF makes 800hp na.

 

Exactly my point. Devote the R&D towards losing weight. A light car these days, I reckon, will get more attention than sheer power. I'm not surprised Porsche hasn't sold all their 918s, especially with the LF and P1 around.

 

Read a magazine couple of days ago & a writer commented that Porsche completely missed the target cos buyers are not interested about electric cars & carbon footprint. Well, perhaps Porsche wants to be the pioneer here just like steam engines did from 19th century & they're even fielding electric & hybrid cars into racing but meanwhile the average Joe like me who can afford neither wishes to see road cars with less than 1.5T, V12 perhaps 3.0 screaming to 9krpm

The P1 looks fantastic in pictures. Will get a chance to see it when it's shown on 5th July. At 1.6M Sin(tax free), it's less than an F12 (new price).

I reckon R8 resale prices are highly negotiable. Great car but a bit like the NSX, the badging at this level does indeed command resale value big time. Always a problem when a mainstream car maker tries the upper tier. On the other hand, you wouldn't see that with MP12 resale as it properly sits at that level right from the start.

 

This has always been an inherent problem that car manufacturers face when making EVs. To achieve supercar-like performance, the batteries would have to weigh at least 400-500kg like in the R8 E-tron and SLS Electric Drive. It's always easier to achieve a higher power/weight ratio by reducing weight rather than adding horsepower.

This Hybrid hypercars (German Marques especially) thingy looks like a reality in the future. To me, these brands have to create new innovative products to tell/show the market. Whether it will work. Your guess is same as mine.

1) lampar or furlaly?
2) If Lampar - G spyder / marchi SV?
3) If Furlaly - 430 / 599 / 458?

Perhaps I should asked. Which brands requires more maintenance attention?

my prediction is that resale values for p1 and 918 will plummet due to the extremely high entry cost and lack of rarity factor. Using the same tub and engine block for the p1 does not warrant the huge premium over mp4 nor makes it a true one off hypercar.

LF will hold up better due to long history to supporters. Enzo prices have done well and even appreciated above original list price.

Just my personal opinion and how I would speak with my wallet.

 

If time permits, I would like to join you guys with Audi for the drive

 

Mid RM300k for a R8?! Am I missing something here bro? Last I checked R8 cost about RM100k more than the GTR. '07/'08 GTR definitely, but R8?
