    crash landing does not properly describe the incident, it misrepresents the incident...crash implies significantly more danger with a loss of control... it was an engine out, off airport landing... the pilot was fully in control including the landing...unfortunately the pilot did not have much imput to his landing spot...

    I see your point as I did google crash landing FAA and it appears not to be part of the FAA definitions, at least as far as I could find. But, to the non pilot like me, there are plenty of stories in the media that have crash landing repeated throughout the article or report where significant damage is done to the airplane. He did land, and I would consider it a crash due to wheel up and from the impact caught on the cameras- but again just as a typical non pilot reader. Is Forced Landing what the FAA would use? Sorry I did not see the post, I just noted the story this morning on Avweb. Remarkable forced landing anyway. We fly some, did 449 miles between three airports this weekend and loved every minute of it. Got the books, will study....
