    I contacted the seller and he sent me following plus some more pix. he didn't indicate if the car has had any bodywork. i wish i was closer to look at it.


    1977 Coupe 930
    Minerva Blue on Caramel leather
    88k original miles
    All original un-molested 2 owner early 930!
    One repaint in correct original color.
    Just 4k miles on documented $30k engine rebuild, new clutch, re-seal, rebuilt brakes and calipers, new syncros in trans.
    Needs only wheels refinished, original front spoiler included, as it currently has 934 type with aux oil cooler.
    Very rare car in ultra rare colors.

    My newly purchased ’75 930, #160. Non-optioned A/C with the smaller rear whale tale vent.

    There are more differences than I thought between the ’75 and ‘76’s (especially the interior).

    It’s nice to have 1970’s silver 930 bookends,’75 #160 and ’79 #1164. More photos to follow…

    Whoa! Very, very nice! Is that a bumper plug on the top of the left bumper? Your license plate holder is upside down.

    Thanks for the heads up on the license plate holder. There are some other bits I need to address but fortunately it came with all the original parts (Fuchs, original steering wheel, mirrors, etc.).

    The plastic cap on the bumper is odd. I thought it might have been for a fog light mount but it is on the wrong side?? The car came with a stack of paperwork including a sales flyer from 1985 where it was advertised for $13,500. The flyer mentions that was one of only 15 1975 turbos built at the test facility at Weissach??

    It appears to be optioned the same as Motor's Aug '75 test car (small rear tail vent, no A/C) but left-hand vs. right-hand drive.

    The fog light would mount under the bumper. Perhaps the hole is remnants of an era when CB radios ruled.

    Could be a "Smokey and the Bandit" CB antenna mount although the plastic cap looks Porsche OE and is a perfect fit.

    Another mystery is the door jam decal. I can't find anything on the web (e.g., Pelican, Rennlist, etc.) that has the "decode" for these decals. Were these decals on all ROW Porsches? Is there any source that decodes them?

    That ECE Homologation decal was on all RoW Porsches, starting at least in 1975, to indicate what European safety standards the car meets. E1 = Germany, E2 = France. They vary slightly by year and by model. Decoding the info isn't really that exciting, unless you like to know what the different safety ratings the car met in 1975.

    I have never seen anyone who has reproduced them, but I'm working on it for my 1976. I have all the artwork done, just trying to get printed and the safety circles stamped.

    the 76 i looked at a couple years ago and i passed on (stupid me) had a factory installed CB (on the window sticker as an option). the mount for the antenna an was on the right side of the bumper.

    Thanks - great info. I wonder if a '75 right hand drive British 930 would have a different E number on the decal?

    A 1975 Porsche 930, #242, sold by Road Scholars a few years ago also has an E1 E2 door jam decal. Perhaps it came to Mexico from Europe (vs. a different Mexico E number)? #242 also has optional A/C with the larger rear tail vent.

    Do you have more pictures of that 75?

    Back then there was no Porsche importer or dealer in Mexico, that car came from Europe for sure and was imported by a private well connected owner as imports were prohibited in the day.

    Here's a few more photos of #242. These illustrate some the interior differences between the '75 and 76 930's. It looks like the 1975 Porsche 930 Turbo's had the same interior as the 1975 911s/Carrera:

    1975 930
    - Speaker & cutout grill on top of dash
    - Bare metal black instrument cluster
    - 1975-style instrument panel gauges and controls
    - Different style accelerator pedal
    - Smooth door panels and leather (vs. cloth) bottom pockets
    - Round knob for manual throttle (by heater control)
    - No embroidered turbo script on left rear seat back
    - 1975 style rear deck (not sure but something looks different?)

    Idart congrats on the '75. Very special car. I like to see these cars go into the right hands. I noticed these ECE Homologation decals inside the '77 US brochure. I'm assuming they just used a Euro car for brochure. Or is this a US spec car without a VIN. The other two 930s in the brochure were US spec cars. I thought all cars including ROWs had the VIN number inside the driver door jam by '75.

    I also noticed your silver '75 #160 (from the pic) has a different tint/sheen on the fiberglass rear tail. I know later tails are steel while these are plastic. My '77 has a different tint or sheen on the tail too. I thought mine might have been repainted but I think its just the paint on the fiberglass as opposed to the metal after 35 years. Both cars are metallic so maybe that has something to do with it. Mine has the original paint. Assuming your car has the original paint.

    Also I came across this factory porsche service manual for the 3.0 litre turbo carrera. I scanned the 80 page document and I'm willing to send anyone a copy who has an early car. A lot of good info/numbers/pics are in the manual that pertain specifically to the 3.0 litre US spec 930. Just PM me your address. ROW guys Im gonna need a little help with shipping.

    Very cool that your '77 still has the original paint. Not sure if there is a different tint/sheen on the silver paint on the fiberglass on my rear tail but unfortunately the entire car was repainted in 1985. It did not come with any records prior to 1985 but the story that came with the car is that it was brought into the U.S. (California) for racing purposes.

    PM sent for a scan the 80-page service manual. Thanks in advance and let me know what I need to include for shipping.

    The wheels have been changed as stock is 7s and 9s for an 86, and these are 8s and 9s. Something else is off on the wheels, but I can't pinpoint it.
