Indeed silver is very special on a Countach.

I think it is impossible! With only the front view and not knowing anything else about a particular car, I think it is not possible to differentiate a LP400S S3, LP500S, or a QV. I believe the front fenders, spoiler, hood, windscreen, etc. are all interchangeable across those cars, so one would need a rear or side or interior view of a car to help figure it out.[/QUOTE]

I notice one of the cars has painted mirrors. Not sure if that would identify a model year.

Mirrors just can't be trusted because they're too easily swapped. There are pics on this thread of one particular Countach with four different styles of mirror on it through just a 5 year period.

In general, do the variants have different style mirrors. If so, that would be the only way I can see to differentiate them by photos of the front only.

As for TripleX, all you have to do is see his car that can hardly run under its own power, his attitude in person not to mention his online persona to know he is in no position to offer any advice or criticism on anything but Hawaiian shirts.

Can't wrench on his own car? Now I don't expect the average owner to be able to rebuild their engine and trans but if you can't get a mechanically sound engine to run, that's just sad. I would expect in the supercar world that folks can at least do the minor stuff. Since he can supposedly hold in his hand more money than my entire worth, I would expect him to find a reputable garage.

Then again, maybe they don't want his business. Sounds like the kind of person you have to inspect every inch of the body to ensure the shop doesn't get blamed for a ding; I would also check the accessories, when I wrenched my way through college, I had more than one guy come in and try to scam me. Typically, they would want the cheapest work done like an oil change so we had a guy who handled that type of work but one guy came back and said we broken his A/C. Funny thing was you could see where the hard line had worn against another piece of metal and it didn't look like it happened yesterday. Took a bunch of pictures and sent him down the road telling him we'd love to see him in court.
After that, whenever a car was brought in, if it was running, we went through it with the owner right there checking all the accessories, lights, etc... one guy tried to blame us for his turn signals not working and the car had been in the shop for less than five minutes for the check over. Kicked him to the curb; I hate dishonest scammers or is that redundant??

This is how I understand it...

LP400 Periscopa cars got the "Sebring" (bullet-type) mirrors, exclusively it seems.

An LP400S lowbody Countach could have "Sebring" (bullet-type mirror), "Tornado" (flag-style miror) or "Turbo" (capsule-shaped mirror/black boot joint) styles of mirrors.

Age-old legends indicate that the mirrors a Countach got in those hand-to-mouth-one-car-away-from-bankruptcy days depended most on what ever fell to hand when Luigi went to install them.

At some point after the move to the highbody Countach, the capsule-shaped "Turbo" mirror with the crinkle boot became the norm.

All correct, except I think the Turbo mirrors did not arrive till the Mimran money did = LP400S S3.

Wow this coming from an 8 post guy what A) doesn't know me personally so how can he comment that he knows me in PERSON? and B) does not know my car.

FYI my car was running just fine BEFORE I allowed someone that was a FORMER Ferrari master tech touch my car.

The matter has since been resolved and the last I heard the tech was fired for messing with my car and not knowing what he was doing.

Also for the record I did pay $150 per hour for the job it wasn't like I was trying to get a break. I simply did not have time to hand deliver the car 1500 miles each way. If I did I wouldnt be typing this now would I?

Besides what is it any of your business or Lee's about what I wear and my car?

FYI the clothes that I usually wear to car events are ALL Giorgio Armani black label or Versace. Fact I do NOT OWN a single so-called hawaiian shirt.

One guy with 8 posts and another with 38 posts attacking me? That's funny.

My skin is real tough bring it on.

Really have no interest in your explanations. In your mind people's opinion is measured by post count. In my opinion, its not how much you say, its what you say. You sir, fail and bring this chat to a low.

    Whatever fool.

Come out on your real name and let's see how long you last.

I've been minding my own business not posting much of anything in over 4 months now you come in here and 90% of your posts are to attack me.

Are you guys that lonely that you have to drag me into this crap once again?

I'm going to start charging an entertainment fee. lol

I always had a hard time with the black spats on 1120148 & 1120202, and still do. That's why my favorite Wolf car is 1121002 by far.

It is a great example of a Countach. I as well have come across a car that I sell, but then desire it for myself so much I keep it, I.E. my 2 Diablo 6.0SE cars, one in each color as well as my USA SVR Race, my 2010 LP670-4SV and a few others tucked away.

Here in Washington, as a Licensed Dealer,if we keep a car for ourselves OR have it in Inventory longer then 9 months, WE MUST title it, license it AND pay our hefty Sales Tax rate at 9.9%. You have to declare the REAL VALUE on the title and pay the tax on that amount. The DECLARED amount needs to be real as they research it and attach THEIR amount if your declared amount is not at least at their research findings.nOnce that is done, you receive your registration, title and plates...and then you still have to private insure it, can't be covered under the Dealer lot license and insurance.

Is that the same with your dealer License on this car you are keeping for yourself and is not for sale Joe?

That is the only downside to keeping these cars that us "Dealers" want to hold onto..

I am not sure what the tax/sales rate is in Joe's County in California, or how he has to declare his car for proper title, tax, plates and insurance...but with Joe, just like me, it's an expense that you CAN'T recover when you sale the car. So no breaks to Dealers...we have to pay the same as anyone else that "keeps" these cars...at least in Washington State.

Is it known what livery this car currently wears? I can't imagine anyone would put the Gold interior back in, or the Gold cam covers and air-boxes...
