I like the look of the stripes. I think it helps to differentiate the scud from the normal 430.

But what if a scud was ordered without them? Is that a big deal when it comes to resale?

they still sell (of course there are buyers that only want stripes and buyers that hate the stripe). The scud price model that most of us use suggests a deduct in price of $5-8k for no stripe cars.

I had this thought the other day after owning mine for over a year now. I had the chance to buy one w/o the stripe and glad I didn't do it. For me the stripe was a must.

    stripes are gaudy as hell.

I'd pay more for a car without them.

Scud stripes are a must. The car looks very sharp with them.

Why can't one add the stripes. The cost would be less than the 6-8k debit?

strip is under clear coat. adding after marking strip is over clear coat. Sounds silly but important distinction.
FWIW my CS doesn't have stripe.

I always thought the CS and Scud should have stripes.

One, I think it looks more sporty and two, it helps set the cars apart from the 360 and F430. I love the stripe on my 16M.

Do you like spicy food that's not spicy? That's what a Scuderia / 16M is without its proper livery.

I like a red Scuderia with or without the stripes, though I prefer a yellow Scud without the stripes. Other Scud colors, it depends on the color combo, but I usually like the stripes. Design wise, I prefer the 16M's center stripe.

no stripes seems like a good way to own a great car for cheaper, that might be in more of a demand later down the line when they all have stripes. Can always add graphics that look good, even if they aren't under a million coats of clear.

Yes they are a big deal. Scuds withOUT stripes look a hell of a lot better IMO. You don't need the stripe to identify the car the scoops on the front of the car are different and they sound different than the stock 430.

    Just my opinion.

    IMHO:

    CS is a must.
The Scud grey stripes seem a bit "trying too hard". Some of the later stripe designs are quite nice though..

Scud needs stripes. They are painted on and just make the car! I've experienced non stripe Scuds fetching as much as 10k less. My guess is 9 out of 10 have stripes.... nuf said! ;-)

Scud I can go either way. But the CS is horrible with stripe. Used to love now it's just gaudy and 80's Fiero/Trans Am.

It really is a matter of personal taste and identity, proven by the fact that the bulk of our Stripes go on the real thing.
At least it provides the advantage that if you get sick of it, you can take it off.
Even when you come to sell it, it can be reinstated to originality, which for many Ferrari owners is what really matters.
Ferrari provides it to visually differentiate a product, which is very similar in appearance but quite different in performance from the standard model.
Unlike personalizing your car with different parts and accessories, I think in time the Stripe will come to define the identity of the model.
But I'm sure it will always remain a matter of personal preference, some will love it and some will hate it.
Isn't that what makes us Ferrari tifosi? We're very passionate about our cars and the brand. :)

    Ciao
    Brenden
