Yes, true, but the mutual respect they have would prohibit the nastiness that has been building in the RB team with that spoilt child and his dickhead uncle Marko running the show.

Worst case, Mark has to slow to let Alonso pass .... late in the season with Fred well ahead would be no problem , for either of them, it is a TEAM after all.

But to give Fred an early birthday present at the start of the season might be off the cards, and I don't think even Ferrari would do that

Yes. Phil is second behind Rosberg. A very distant second.

BTW how many times has Rosberg crashed this year? Phil is driving the car. Nobody else.

At least 6 other drivers are better than Phil IMVHO.

I think web and Alonso would make a good team. And not to mention it would be 100% better situation than the current one.

That might work, but Webber is too old. If he had made the switch last year like Ferrari wanted him to that would have been serviceable. He missed his chance to drive for the Scuderia.

The basis of My Webber theory is purely based on Ferrari loosing patience with Massa and booting him out.

In that situation they would need to replace Massa with someone who can score good points at each race whilst not being a major threat to Fernando, and also be someone that Fernando gets along with. Mark Webber fits that bill pretty well as I see it.

As for the possibility of Webber having to yield to Fernando in races, in all honesty, I think the situation for Webber would be similar to his position at Red Bull - he'd usually be behind Fernando due to the difference in natural ability and speed, and so it would rarely be an issue.

As it stands, Fernando is currently happy to have Massa in the team as it helps secure the team for himself and Ferrari are happy because Fernando is happy.

However, a big problem with Massa is that he is not taking points from Fernando's rivals and that is partly what is costing Fernando his much desired Ferrari WDC.

If Webber does become available, he has to be a serious consideration for Ferrari to assist in Fernando's Championship bid.

Has everyone forgotten the rumours from a year ago that Ferrari offered the #2 seat to Webber, and only after Webber turned them down did they re-sign Massa? There were plenty of press releases and quotes on the subject, including from Webber himself.

(About the only thing keeping it in the rumour rather than fact category is that I don't recall confirmation of an offer to Webber from Ferrari itself.)

Obviously if they made an offer to Webber in 2012, for the 2013 year, it must have been with the approval of Alonso... which makes the speculation that Alonso would veto a Ferrari #2 offer to Webber rather wide of the mark...

the press also said that seb signed a contract with Ferrari also. So everything in the press we all should take with a grain of salt.

A grain the size of Gibralter. No one here has ANY idea why they keep signing Massa. No one. Call LdM and settle it for us please!! Useless debate like the one about Vettel and his talent the the Vettel extension thread.

Here some comments from Gary Anderson:

SPEEDWEEK Formel 1 - Ferrari: Alonso braucht Hilfe, Massa ist unkonstant

No surprise there in him stating that Massa is too inconsistent in his results.

Just thought I put that out there for those who are constantly assuring us that Ferrari knows what they're doing. According to Anderson they lost the plot a little.

It has honestly gotten ridiculous. Even his apologists cannot explain away a level of ineptitude this high. He started out the year decently, now is horrible, and I'm sure he'll pick it up at the end of the year when his contract is being discussed. This yo-yo form from Massa is what has kept Ferrari at arms length from the WCC for years now.

    Time to go.

Yes, it's one of the rules. That's why every week we have a practice spoiler thread, a quali spoiler thread, and a race spoiler thread.

Is it really that damn hard to not post spoilers in thread titles? How is it that people still don't get it? It's not difficult.
