    Hello,

Would any of you f430 owners chime in on some overspray I found on a car Im thinking of buying. I was checking out some scrapes on the front end and I noticed a very small amount of overspray on the front bumper air scoop area. The red paint is very slightly on the drak grey grill. Im talking about 2mm of overspray. This is only on the driver side front scoop.

I searched the forum and I've come across a few posts reagarding the "quality" of Ferrari factory paint. Is this common? Does not seem that way to me. I do not mind a respray bumper mostly because my wife will probably add more once I get one.... :) i do not like the idea of half ass prep on something as straight forward as a bumper respray.

    Thanks!

I would say this is uncommon, possibly indicating a poor job on the respray.

Its hard to say, Ferrari paint can be rather poor. If this was a respray and you are thinking of buying the car I would request that a shop clean up the area in question. I am surprised a car would be put up for sale without correcting the overspray.

Resprays are not uncommon and will not diminish values if done properly, the key word is done "properly" though. Make sure the paint matches and the overall respray is done correctly, if not move on, many many f430's to choose from.....

I bought my 2005 new and the paint job would be an embarrassment for Toyota, etc. There was obvious touchup on a fender and a drop of black paint on the door sill. That said, I doubt the overspray you describe is from the factory.

It might have been a very minor, aesthetic, bit of work but my feeling is that it is more likely to be as a result of repair than factory over-spray.

Could be just spray on the bottom corners of the front bumper--a popular place to scrape!

I'm not too worried about it. My wife says I'm cursed and I will find the slightest imperfection and fixate on it....
I'm going to have the ppi and if car checks out will move forward.
Thanks for the replies and I'll keep you posted on what I find out.

It is more important that mechanically the car is decent. Any used car will have imperfections and normal wear and tear items. Good luck and let us know how it goes....

If you fixate on every little imperfection; maybe she is cursed ;)

    Indeed !

Just got the verbal on the car. Car appears to be a go! I have confirmation that the exhaust manifolds were updated/replaced in January. Im waiting for the service records to be emailed to me to confirm what I've been told!

Saw and drove the car on Saturday!

    I love it. It's a done deal
