They certainly acted quickly with the knowledge they gained. Massive upgrades for W04 this year.

?Bad luck to Vettel, bad for my points too but good for the WDC.

Mercedes prove that they gained a ****load of data with their test. Absolutely disgusting and I have no respect to anyone involved with that team.

WTF is Lotus doing? They are ****ing up left right and center at the moment. I hope Kimi will go to Red Bull now (pains me to say it as I like Lotus).

Great display from Pirelli. New tire bonding process blah blah. Working great then.

Other than that the tires need fixing fast I don't know what can be learned from today's race. Placements aren't indicative. Other than Mark I don't know that anyone can take much satisfaction in the result.

As I said months ago, F138 has a relatively low development ceiling. They are nearing the top, we'll see how the keep going through the season.

It was a case of cutting away the two fastest cars on the day and moving everyone up the grid. FA was correct that his pace was not great and he was fortunate to pit right before the safety car. Hamilton won't like the result, but clearly his car is capable of winning a race versus Vettel now. Massa had a great start ruined by a tire blow, but he came back to claim 6th place.

I think Mercedes were the big winners here...they can go head-to-head with RBR now at a race not named Monaco. They have seemingly leap-frogged Ferrari

Why would anyone ever buy Pirelli tires again?

If their very best, cost no object, tires fail and explode what about our street tires? Never again, not for my car, my SUV, my motorcycle---zip, nada, zilch.

The last race everyone had to go slower than racing speed. This time the tires explode. This isn't racing, this is epic failure.

Too many anomalies to say for sure.

I'm curious to see what the bursts are attributed to. It can't be just curb cuts.

Luckily for you you probably don't have a car with 13'' rims and running slicks all the time...

F1 slicks are entirely different to road tires.

If Bernie Ecclestone is dictating the compounds and constructions, specifically softening the sidewalls to increase heat and lead to faster degradation, then you should not buy that tire.

Pirelli's race tires have nothing to do with the consumer tires

Yes And the FIA too. Only way to make it right is for FIA to sanction same test for all the teams ASAP.

Pirelli races in F1 for PR reasons.
How this mess is anything but a PR disaster eludes me.

I blame them only for entering into this deal with the devil but that's a huge mistake in and of itself.

While that is true, it is a bit ironic for Pirelli:

The sole purpose of supplying all the tires to F1 and take the blame for their many failures is to convince the audience at large that their F1 tires have a direct trickle-down effect on their road tires.

I bet the marketing geniuses over at Pirelli are having stomach cramps over this one.

+1...that would eliminate the noise associated with that tribunal result.

Let it go. The horse has left that barn.
From here on all the teams are going to be dealing with a new tire design.
As they should be. The original plan was to have new design rubber for Silverstone. Too bad so many knew better than to let that happen.
