The Ashton was nice but the flavor profile was not my thing. I must say though you can certainly tell it was worth the money. The cigar looks quite appealing and I didn't even need to think of ashing about 50% the way through. Had some small splits as I neared the final 25% or so. The flavor was certainly complex and the primary ones for me were vanilla and nutmeg. The draw was smooth the whole way through with no issue's on that front. The problem I had was that I don't believe it's the primary one for my pallet and the duration of the smoke. It burned evenly but felt like it was done substantially quicker than some of the other cigars I have smoked. I must admit, being new and all, that this one certainly made me look into the cigar to see exactly what was behind it. Good smoke IMO and thankfully I have another one available. Sunday should bring a new one I just have to decide which stick to smoke.
Cant say I've tried Ashton. I get that with some smokes too. I'm a relatively new cigar smoker too and am still learning about the different tastes and complexities. I know what you mean about being worth the money just not your taste. I've got a big bbq party coming up on Saturday so will have at least one but probably more. Not sure what I'll grab yet but am looking forward to it!!
Scored big today. Handful of La Dueña petit lanceros, box of Illusione Rothchildes, box of Tatuaje Petit Lanceros and a handful of Tatuaje 10th anniversary Reserva Noellas
Man night with my best friend. Torano Exodus 1959 Toro - I need second take on this stick. It became fairly harsh and got right to my head around 1/2 to 2/3 through. Thankfully I bought two of every stick Image Unavailable, Please Login
The exodus is good, but I'd you can find any Torano Salutem grab those. One of their sales reps, Miguel, blended it himself to be a medium body, smooth cigar that won't blowout your palate. He wanted something to smoke while traveling between shops. It's very nice.
Picked up a box of CAO Vision Ephiphany the other day... pretty much just for the box but the cigars aren't half bad! Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is one crazy looking box! Might have to get one for myself! Had the opportunity to try a pre-release Fratello Robusto on Friday night. Medium body, some spice, smooth, a little sweetness, quite tasty and very enjoyable. The brand is supposed to launch at the IPCPR show in Vegas next month. If you get the chance to try it, check it out.
Got a bunch of birds in the air.... Fuente Fuente Opus X Lost City Lanceros 2011 Opus X, The Fuente Story sampler 2012 Opus X, the Fuente Story sampler 2008 Opus X Princessa D's Phew my wallet is lighter but atleast I'll be smoking good, right? I haven't been this excited to get cigars in a long time. Oh and I found out one of my holy grail cigars is getting re-released! The La Palina Goldie, only released 500 boxes and they were superb; very complex with a lot of subtle flavors. When they hit the shelves I highly recommend these to everyone.
That is quite the selection above and a nice box a little further up. I had an Oliva G series last night while on the patio. Very impressed with the burn and the overall construction of it. The cigar personally was a little more coffee/earthy than I would prefer. Still a good cigar just not for my palate.
Old school badass-ness! Not pictured is the single malt dipping scotch. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Reserva D'Chateau from 2010 while suffering through a four hour rain delay at United Leasing Championship today. Great great smoke. Darth, great stick! Image Unavailable, Please Login
