My wife and I will be in your area (Englewood) next week to see our new to us car.

I'm looking for suggestions for places to drive, eat, and sleep.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, lots of areas are considered "Englewood" without being in the little area drawn on a map. Be more specific with area, because that could make a big difference.

Ditto on needing more detail on "Englewood" - that is a pretty scattered area - There is an "Englewood" that is the I-25/County Line area and then "old" Englewood that is in/around the Broadway and Hampden area - two different parts of the city.

As far as the drive there are a million different and awesome drives in Colorado this time of year. One of my favorites is to head west on 285 - take the Inidian Hills/Parmalee Gulch cutoff which takes you through a bunch of cool little mountain towns (watch your speed BTW) and eventually dead-ends into highway 74 where you take a left (west) and head into Evergreen which this time if year is absolutely beautiful. If you are in beer/bar food/live music mode you can hit the Little Bear which is an Evergreen icon - if you are in wine/relax/tapas/cheese mode you can go across the street to Creekside Winery -preivately owned and operated winery with amazing views, wine and food. Small place so usually a wait for tables - especially on the veranda but worth it.

Just one of many suggestions but a nice drive and gives you a taste of Colorado mountains without going all the way to Vail, Aspen etc.

Cheers and hope you enjoy your stay :)

The best roads to drive on are west of the city, into the hills. Head south (west) on Highway 285. That highway is a good way to experience a twisty road in the mountains.

Others can chime in on where to say or eat. If you prefer something beyond basic accommodations you may want to look at downtown Denver which is around 15-20 minutes from Englewood. There might be some nice options south of Englewood too.

Unless you have some specific requirements regarding lodging, I would pick an area and use priceline. That's what I do when I stay in metro Denver. Give an idea of dining preferences, and recommendations will flow.

It's the FCA Rocky Mountain Region summer picnic on Sunday. If you're in the area then that would be a great way to meet a bunch of Ferrari owners.

Just as an FYI, the picnic is not free. Didn't want you to show up and be surprised by a bill. Just don't drive through downtown. The roads suck and many folks don't know how to drive.

Thanks for your input! I didn't realize that Englewood is one of those "no there there" places. The shop we're going to is on S. Mariposa St.
east of S. Santa Fe and south of 285.

Unfortunately we'll miss the picnic, that would have been fun.

    Best,

    Don

For some reason The Man Cave has an Englewood address on it even though we are right next to Centennial airport. When I tell people we are in Englewood, they think "Old Englewood".

We're just back from Englewood(?) and I am still confused about where exactly we were. The shop is almost next to Santa Fe in a light industrial area; we ate at Elway's (very good-I'd go back) which appears to be in a very upscale area and we stayed in Aurora I think.

We did manage to go west on 285 to Morrison to Idledale(?) past Red Rocks. Beautiful area, thanks again for the suggestion. We didn't have enough time to do the area justice. The Southerner in me can't imagine what winter there is like.

    Thanks again.

    Don

Beats winter in the mid-Atlantic hands down. Been there, done that, moved here.

I'm not a fan of winter here, but its better than NC where I grew up. These days we do winter here by going to Florida!

Morrison to Idledale and on to Evergreen is Highway 74. Highwa 285 is a bit south of 74 but both roads are great curvy drives. http://goo.gl/maps/0SZcZ.

Hope you had a good time while you were out here.

Glad you took and enjoyed the suggestion on 285 - Again, just one of many great drives around here. Winters can be a bit rough but in many cases the mountain roads are in better shape then the city so still enjoyable - Cheers and hope you make it back :)

Thanks! I will be out again for another test drive soon, I hope.

Maybe I'll be able to meet a few of the "locals" next time.

Have not seen that beautiful yellow 355 on Main Street in Parker much. Saw a black 458 across from Vines a few times.

Thanks - Actually had it out yesterday and did run by Vines :) Since I have two children now (the white Testarossa you may have seen is mine) I have to pay attention to both of them so the TR has been out the past couple of weeks.

If you see either one at Vines, drop in - would be great to meet you - Cheers :)
