What sounds better than a Ferrari engine?

I am relatively new to Ferrari and wanted to capture the engine sounds of my F430 Spider running up a canyon in Central Oregon (Oregon 27, Crooked River Canyon). I think the video turned out okay ... what do you all think?

I'm still trying to figure out how to use the GoPro Hero external microphone option to capture forward looking video AND engine sounds ...

The only thing that sounds better than a Ferrari.....a better sounding Ferrari!!! I am a diehard Lamborghini Diablo fan and have spent countless hours at speeds over 170mph in them, and I believe the Diablo is the ultimate Supercar. However, Ferrari makes the best sounding cars, a 360 Modena with Capristo stage 3 and test pipes is the best sounding car I have ever heard...period.

Intermediate length track so you can hear the sound reverberate off the back wall from the stands.

 

Carrera GT......it's at least on par with the best sounding Ferrari....the F355

No Ferrari engine could even come close to the sound of a supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin V-12. For pure aural pleasure,just taxiing in a P-51 Mustang with the canopy open beats any sound that any car can deliver.

To get optimum engine sound while facing the camera forward you will have to try a few things. Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know.

The GoPro has a built in mic that records sound and has a jack for an external mic that is extra.

You could mount the GoPro on the roof just above the windshield and then to get optimum engine sound you would then mount an external mic in the place you think best sounds and then run the appropriate length cable from the external mic to the jack in the GoPro.

If you don't want to use a separate, external mic, you could mount the GoPro on the front and capture video and sound using the GoPro's built in mic then mount the GoPro in the back for another run to capture the sound at its best.

After doing that you have two movies from two different views and one has the superior sound. The when making your video you can edit it to have the best sound file matched with the best view and since you have two or more views you can edit them together with just the single sound file. Take another run and mount the GoPro inside and you have another. In the end you would hear just the best sound file you captured in one run and you can add whatever video you like to it.

I hope that helps or at least gets you thinking in the right direction.
