Behind me is a one-off 1/5 250 GTO, a 1/8 McLaren F1, a 1/18 Porsche Transporter & 908, and the rear wing from the MOMO Porsche 962. Just a small section of the gallery.

I'd love at some point to see someone do a Modulo. What an amazing design even today.

Cool car but one has to be careful when commissioning large models that cost $6K a piece. If you choose an obscure car like the Modulo it would be very tough to sell many.
Off topic - I commissioned a small run of 1/8 scale 250 LMs for my gallery-

    Simply awesome!

I keep a close eye on these types of models waiting to see what happens as 3d printing becomes less expensive. Once it hits a certain price point it will be possible to produce this type of detail easily. I could do it now but the raw cost to make a few is still too high.

The hard part is getting the data in Solidworks. Amalgam must get the data directly fom the manufactures which is a giant advantage. Modeling all these cars from images and blueprints is ALOT of hours.

Amalgam is king of the hill in ths regard right now and it shows in this model. If I had the $$$ I'd have a whole room full of these.

True, they must get the data directly, because they come to market so soon after introductions, but that special licensing is likely also a good chunk of the $5000++ cost on those
They are almost not really 'models' in the traditional sense of being crafted once to that point, just a digitally reproduced & scale of the actuals IMO
Still, a wonder to behold, and eye candy for all but the most well heeled
Digital printing kits is still quite a ways off yet, the closest example to these kinds, I can think of, are the Aston DB5s done for the latest bond movie, but even at that large of a scale, and even with the finest resolution printers used, there is still a LOT of prep and work to be done on the parts, even before they can be painted, or else the 3D print pattern shows through

These awesome models are all fully licensed and done in association with Ferrari and other marques. CAD files are used to aid in a perfect translation in scale.

I have the 1/8 scale Aston Martin DB5 James Bond models you mention as well. Nice but not nearly as accurate as the Amalgam models.
