I take great comfort in knowing that "it's one of a kind".

went to have a look at a fiero-based TR replica today. I don't know how correct it was but it did look very nice from a distance (and not too shabby up close although there were some imperfections I wouldn't expect on the real thing). A couple of things stand out though:

    1) the interior. It's a fiero, not much you can do about that

    2) the rear side windows are simulated

    3) it used the original fiero windshield with no changes (at least I don't think there were any changes to the angle, I didn't study the interior close enough to be certain though).

That third point would be a giveaway to almost anyone. Did they all do that?

The guy was very friendly, not trying to make anyone think he had the real deal at all. I'll be going back there when the weather is better to get a short ride, take some pictures and such.

Just found this one on craigslist. Will say, actually doesnt look bad. The proportions dont look funky as most kit cars do. Although I hate the simulated shifter gate. Haha

That doesn't look to bad with the exception of the shifter.

I've just realised that it would be so much easier to replica modern F1 type Ferraris. All you would have to do is convert the automatic control lever into paddles ... much easier than trying to make a proper gated shifter.

And the lack of involvement feel would be the same ;)

Converting some Formula Ford, or such open wheel cars, with new bodywork & more power, would make for a cool track day car

Not sure about the auto idea, some are designed with paddle shift ability, but otherwise would burn up an auto typically I think, if always manually shifted in that manner, without some significant mods

Not a Kelmark -- A cascu body - like kelmark no longer alive --- cascu had a more accurate door and sail panel ---

    That's not a bad looking replica and hopefully it's a V6.

The sad this with the cost of the car, body kit, conversion & labor might have bought a Mondial, 308GT4, or maybe a 308 GTS in need of some work.

The cost of the tires and rims are more valuable than the car itself, Fire Sale anyone? So the POS was parked behind an Italian restaurant, anyone else see the irony?

Are you sure it was an Italian restaurant? Probably a burger place made up to look like an Italian place.

I meant it was an American food place that was built into a replica of an Italian food place. Like an American car built into a replica of an Italian car. Not a very well crafted joke. :)

But why buy one of those when this would run circles on them? Also be cheaper to maintain and probably much cheaper on insurance.

Unless I was a hardcore 308/Mondial guy I would consider a kitcar before I considered one of those. Why? because I'm likely going to end up hacking up it anyways with aftermarket parts so I might as well do it to a kitcar.
