*I posted this under collectibles first, but I think its more appropriate here. Can the mod's delete the post there?* So I stumbled across a set of true team Ferrari F1 wheels and tires. They date from late 97' - early 98' right when the switch from slicks to grooved was coming about. The tires are NOS Goodyears still with the stickers even. Ashame they're that old, they have started to dry crack. The wheels are BBS, they appear to have been ran on, but honestly I don't know. Story I recieved was a track sponsor at the time was given a set when the FIA banned slicks. He used them as a decoration at his resturant. Resturant closed and he got tired of these in his garage. So, I have these. They are cool as hell, but are they worth anything? Is there a market for F1 wheels?
Definitely worth something...I'd look around eBay or memorabilia sites to gauge value: F1 WILLIAMS Rear Wheel & New Full Wet Tyre Coffee Table | eBay http://f1partsfinder.co.uk/
Absolutely worth something. I would definitely pay to have one to mount on the wall in my office. Scout around a bit to decide on an asking price, and then let us know!! I will be looking for the ad...
As cool as they are I can't say I have seen many air fresheners labeled "tire aroma". Only those with garagemahals need apply.
I thought so too, but they actually don't seem to be letting off too much odor. I had them in my SUV for half of a day in the sun and heat and the car didn't smell at all of rubber. I was pleasantly surprised. It was my wife's SUV, so I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Granted, after a few days may be a different story. I'll try to get a fair value figured out and let everyone have a shot.
I have a single, used F1 tire from the early nineties. It never really smelled. It looks cool, but it would look even better with a rim. Happy to part with it.
Lucky you. Maybe its the strange chemical mix which makes them grippy when heated, never failed at least when I used to watch F1 a corner worker would rest leaning on the tire of a sand trapped car only to quickly lift his hand and shake it. The old F1 tire I saw at the BMW Zentrum looked petrified and nothing like real rubber. Anybody with a tall ceiling could make a mobile out of them or weld them up and make a cool spin thing out of them..
So here's the pictures. I've also searched them, but there are no date markers to be found. The previous owner said 97-98, but I cannot guarantee that. The color scheme matches that of a F93a. The tyres are 25.5x9.5x13 front and 26x13x13 rear. The tyres are brand new old stock, they have a bit of dry cracking on them. The wheels appear to be used, a lot of marks and the nut mounting area is marked up from having a wheel nut torqued down. I have more pictures to send, but I keep getting a "security token missing" message. If you want more pics give me an email address and I'll send directly to you. I don't know what these are worth. I've looked at the similar ebay ads, and they seem to want a lot for a wheel with a round glass top. I know what I'd like to get, but I am not sure what the true value is. If you want 1 or more send me an offer either on this post, in a PM or email directly, [email protected].
Well they're not from '98 (silver wheels, grooved tires) or 97 (gold wheels). I think your F93A guess is likely correct.
I've sold one rear already and I started with an asking price of $750.00. I have one more rear and one front, I'll start with the same asking price of $750.00 shipped. If you follow those ebay links I think this is a very fair asking price. Send me an offer and we'll make a deal. I have 2 fronts right now, but I think I'm going to keep one wheel for myself.
