not sure if production version p1, i think it looks quite messy. although the lights are quite innovative Image Unavailable, Please Login
you can't change this, it's disadvantages of turbo, I only hope that in the future Ferrari will not resign from naturally aspirated V12
How can you call that clean? What were they thinking with that central spine. Did no one consider where the number plate would have to go? Now it just looks like someone has knocked a chunk out of it so that they can fit the plate. Unforgivable
I honestly think the P1 will go down in history as a landmark car, like the F1 did. When Ferrari design the LalaFerrari or whatever the next one is called the F70 will be forgotten by many. It is not a ground breaking design like the F40 and Enzo were, but does sound amazing! I personally think the rear of the P1 is just flipping awesome! Talk about taking racing to the road and thinking outside the square. Pete
If that's a mess then call me Pig-pen. Yes - this car is a Validation Prototype - two steps removed from actual production cars, but within about 98% of what customers will receive as far as look and spec are concerned. After completing these VPs McLaren will have built a small series of Production Prototypes which are the closest to final spec of all their prototypes. Production of customer cars is set to begin within a matter of days, if not already. >8^) ER
no no no...LF WILL be forgotten...and then the values will plummet so mere mortals like me can acquire one I like much of the P1 design, but I have a big big problem with its (to me) droopy butt. I guess they designed the low back for aero reasons (feeding that massive wing) but it just looks goofy to me. cockpit bubble also seems too high and long for the overall dimensions and beltline. LF not the cleanest, but I like it a lot more than P1. but sure, lucky are those who can pick and choose which one will be in their garage...for realz
Maybe forgotten is not the right word but the F40 and Enzo definitely changed the game for Ferrari. The LaFerrari is simply an evolution ... IMO. Pete
An evolution? Of what? The F150 is the most technologically advanced road car - and therefore the most complex - ever imagined or produced by Ferrari. It's complexity goes way beyond its hykers system and its ground breaking chassis. The fact that McLaren built the P1 was a wonderful thing for Ferrari as it pushed them to go further and further to meet the challenge that McLaren threw down and literally render the P1 obsolete, before it was born. This car is another dimension compared to its predecessors and I'm my opinion is a serious gamechanger...
^ I fixed it for you. From what we know so far, both The P1 and the 918 seem to be more advanced and complex than LaF.
Yep, exactly. Some of us have Ferrari rose tinted glasses on ChalStrad, IMO the LaFerrari is simply an Enzo with a hybrid system added. Even resembles the Enzo, and the marketing videos I've watched all talk about the advances based on the Enzo, ie. CoG being (I think) 30mm lower, etc. BUT heck if I was blind I'd buy the Ferrari in a heart beat ... that sound, man! Pete
I think none of these cars will be remembered. None of them look really really good (as cars become obsolete looks and racing pedigree are the only things that remain). And as the hybrid technology is something relatively new and with a lot of room for improvement, in 2040 the electronic stuff in these cars will look primitive and almost laughable like a computer of the 80's. And probably they will be broken almost always.
I feel this is a real issue-where will the parts come from and whom, aside from the factory, will be able to repair?
And don't forget how gorgeous the front is going to look when they have to stick a plate on one side of the hood or one side intake, making it look like ****. For some reason Ferrari designers often seem to forget that some people, like all of Europe, needs to put these metal plates with numbers on the front of their cars. The result is ruined front end design. Not as dumb as a $2M Bugatti looks, but still pretty bad.
More advanced in what ? It's a technological neck to neck, all three cars are pretty awesome. Anyway just talking about the carbon fibre monocoque, laF uses,by far, the more advanced solution for process construction and assembly of the right thickness and kind of carbonfiber for every specific areas of the chassis (where stiffness and structural requirements are specific in comparison to others). This solution weight a lot less the those on P1 and 918 (about 20%). Of course P1 and 918 have a full electric mode, but in this case a Toyoya Prius is the more advanced of the three.
I'd say that was a serious stretch. And if they resemble each other at all (which they don't in my opinion) wouldn't it stand to reason since they are generational siblings? It isn't like LaFerrari was built by Aston Martin or Porsche!
LOL. P1 vs LaFerrari = Tortuosity & demonstration vs Complexity & mastery. TOP GEAR: "Anyway, the red car is curvy in a properly beautiful way. It's the product of a maker which has mastery of aerodynamics, but also has a masterly understanding that what really sets its cars apart is drop-dead desirability. In the time of the Enzo, it put aero at visual front-and-centre, but now its rivals have entered that territory too, so Ferrari has gone back to what it does best: knee-trembling beauty...The McLaren looks like it has most to prove."
How in any way shape or form does the Ferrari render the P1 obsolete??? If anything of the three the Ferrari is actually the least advanced. Lets look at the engines for example, the Ferrari has a mildly upgraded F12 engine, The P1 although similar in configuration too the MP4 engine actually has a totally custom block and innards and the 918 again is a totally custom package
So far I don't think that anyone can say for sure that the Ferrari is less advanced: derived from a F12 or not, that engine could be a engineering masterpiece, just like the chassis of the P1 is derived from the MP4/12. Although one could say that Ferrari chose a more continuist and commercial approach.
LF is way way more advance than enzo. if any of you experience the LF briefing at marranello you would know.
