My 458 spider comes with standard steel tailpipes. I am considering changing the pipes to black chrome or titanium . Having found out that the titanium cost 60% more than the black chrome version , my natural choice goes to the cheaper one . I understand that the ti version has the Ferrari script engraved on it but it may not be noticeable at a distance . Further, at a distance ti is so similar looking to steel.

the titanium tips are great and I love them on my 2010 458, the diameter is much bigger than the smaller stock steel tips and they are 50% lighter than the stock tail pipes too,
    first pic is stock

I have the black "sports exhaust". Looks great. No maintenance of cleaning the black soot off the other two options. Doubt if you will recover the upcharge in your resale.

They all look good. If you get titanium you will probably be the only one in your neighborhood with one and likely you will be the only one who knows about it unless you tell them....and then they may think you are bragging. Doubt if you will recover the significant upcharge when you resell.

Get the one that appeals to you. There is no right or wrong answer IMVHO.

ha knew u were going to like it arcangel!
yes the ti has a way bigger diameter than the stock, so much bigger that the diameter of the
bigger two outer pipes on the stock tips is almost equal to the diameter of the smaller central pipe on the ti tips :)
a must in my opinion, really opens up the back and u get a deeper sound from the exhaust from the bigger diameter tips (1:19 into the video)

458trofeo , are you serious ? The bigger diameter helps opening up the sound ? If that is the case , I might go for the titanium despite the higher price tag ! I thought Ti or Black is just a matter of aesthetic ! But you know I always favour a bigger sound .

I doubt if it makes any difference at all. The exhaust tips are not even physically attached to the actual exhuast pipes. That is, the pipes do not contact the tips. The pipes simply empty into the tips which conduct the gases the few inches to the outside of the car.

not sure I agree noblesse: since the ti tips are have a wider circumference they allow the sound created by the exhaust to be less restrictive and reverb better thereby producing a slightly deeper sound with more body to it, much like the sound produced by air pushed through an organ pipe of wider diameter will produce a deeper sound than the same air pushed through a pipe of narrower diameter

of course the difference in sound is relatively small, however check out the video of my car
in my previous post above, the sound is def. deeper than stock imho

I can be wrong when I said "no difference," but it will be subtle.

Highly doubt significant sound difference. Tips are too short.

Imo they are not even part of the exhaust like in the exhaust of f.i. a Testarossa ... just a body part (makeup).

I have oem black tips .. happy so I don't have to polish them ... :D

Agree. Probably the difference if any is too subtle to notice any difference.
Definitely agree with the ti tips for looks but black tips if you go with black wheels.

Unless the car is black, steel or ti. Black tips on the 458 creates an odd looking "black hole" in the rear I think. A bit like black wheels put huge holes on the side of a car. No thanks.
