Ferrari Cars for Sale ? Showrooms ? JD Classics

Ok guys, bit of an odd one here. I phoned up JD Classics today to get a bit of information on the two 275 GTB/4 they have for sale. I asked for the chassis numbers so that I could do a background check but the lady who answered refused to give them too me saying it was not company policy to give such info.

When I asked how I was supposed to check history she replied "sorry, that was just the way it is"

Ok I said could you then give me an indication on price? And here was the shocker; apparently the silver gray car is up for £1.55m and the red car for £1.7m. After I picked myself off the floor I asked "are you sure?" she checked again and confirmed the price. And these are steel cars not alloy, I checked.

So my questions are, does anyone know these cars ID and have I totally missed a massive hike in 275 values is the last few weeks?

As the 250 SWB spider, to be honest I was afraid to ask any question about that, I'm not sure my heart could take anymore

Don't know what it looks like in person, but based on the photographs alone, the example in Grigio Ferro Metallizzato is stunning. Wonder if that was the original exterior color?

They are quite good guys, highly creditable .

Send them your bankers name, so they know you are creditable on a level to buy the cars. As always, hard to share chassis numbers with people they are not certain about.....new world, new rules...

They had a fab Lanica B24S at Goodwood, and speaking to them, they are quite serious..saw them also at Monaco last year, and there Jag was prepared sweet...

    Good luck. CG

1527GT ? - 2491GT is the arutunoff Zagato Spider made out of a 250 GT SWB. 1527GT is as far as I know the car just finished being restored in the UK, originally aluminium and refitted with aluminium panels. Would be US$ 10 million easily.

I think you meant to say 1627 GT.

In any case, the car pictured on the JD Classics website is an SWB Spider California (i.e. thus ruling out 1627 GT as a possibility, etc.).

I believe the red 275 GTB/4 is s/n 09755? It's claimed to have done under 50,000 km. Copley Motor Cars in the US sold it last year.

I don't know the chassis number of the Grigio car. If it's the car I think it is it was originally Rosso Cordoba and has a new Classiche engine block. The original became porous. It sounds like a very nice car but call JD Classics to confirm the above information.

The Rosso GTB/4 is Ex Bill Cosby - 9755 - went from dealer to Copley then to Dick Lovett then onto JD.

The Grigio GTB/4 was sold recently from Nigel Jeffery Cars to JD. Re Stamped Motor

Who in their right mind is going to pay that price for a car with a re stamped engine ??? This market is crazy at the moment and if / when it resumes some normality it will be cars such as this that will be impossible to sell.

In a world where cars with well-known restamped engines get Ferrari Classiche certified, everything is possible.

My other peeve is people who are trying to pick up any of those certified cars, only to sell them shortly afterwards, have the nerve to call themselves collectors. They probably don't even know how to pronounce Scaglietti.

The SWB Cali, could it be 1951GT? When it was shown at the Techno in 2010, it was still a construction site (German owner). Black/Red would be a recognizable combo, which makes me believe that some work has been done recently.

My thoughts exactly Paul which was why I was so stunned with the prices quoted. I am going to call them again this afternoon just to make sure that the lady on the phone had not mis-quoted me.

At the end of the day who is driving these prices, is it dealers chancing their arms or are people really willing to pay what appears to me to be £500k over what has been paid recently for similar 275/4 GTB's?

There is no doubt that the 4 Cam market is at £1.5m give or take £150k for condition and history etc. What is a shame is that even with the facilities available at JD they aren't restoring the ex Cosby car to its original colour combo.

What would you say the SWB Spider market was at? Chris Evans paid £5m five years ago.
