    Surprised to find out the 911 has the worst 1 year depreciation curve of any car i've ever owned. It's supposedly because of the "new body style" which is never much different.

    All I can say is wow.

    If you're looking at buying a new one, don't! Wait for the first owner to take it up the a$$.

    Your thread title is misleading at best and flat wrong on face value. Porsche 911 prices have been skyrocketing. Any air cooled Porsche has climbed recently, especially 911's.
    Of course a new 911 will fall like a rock like any other new car price drops when it becomes a used car. Generally speaking, water cooled 911's or used cars and have little to no collector /classic car value, so a newer used car is worth more than an older one.

    You bought the wrong 911. GT3 RS 4.0 values are higher than MSRP.

    It's not because of the body style, it's because of the outrageous MSRP of 991s.

    A decent spec 991 runs you $130-140K. The 997 Turbo didn't cost much more than that. Hell you can probably get a LP560 for only a little more.

    You'll get murdered on depreciation with the 991. It's definitely a car to buy used. Easily $20-30K depreciation in the first year or so. Even though its a fantastic car and looks great, it's just too expensive.

    New Porsches prices are insane. You can spec a Boxster to 110k easily (and the options are not the silliest ones). That was what I paid for my 997 C4S with pretty much full options.

    Great point. I can't believe what the RS Americas are doing...

    Does anyone thing the 964 3.6T and 993TT are bubble cars? In other words, can this appreciation continue, or are these just riding the coat tails of 1MM 365 spiders and the like?

    I need more garage space....

    I think 964 and 993 turbos will be collectible on their own merits, particularly the 3.6 and Turbo S. maybe in a slight bubble now but if you bought now and sold in 2020, I think you'd be doing okay.

    That's been the real acceleration story these past few years... anything pre-1974 has been on a tear, except maybe 914-4s.

    I think the OP was only considering the new 911s, but otherwise agree with your post. Unless someone drove it off a cliff, a 993 seems like a car you could (at worst) own for free.

    Totally agree. I think something like 400 Turbo 3.6 were imported into NA and God only knows how many have survived. The acceleration at boost was violent---literally snap your head back under accel and would snap it forward under decel. Sofa king cool!!!

    I am in Kuwait and I have a U.S Turbo 3.6, there are 3-4 more U.S Turbo 3.6 here in Kuwait.

    Many Turbo 3.6 and Turbo 3.6 S went abroad specifically to middle east, germany and asia.

    Secure those aircooled 911s boys... And enjoy them while you can!

    Where I'm from the mint 993 Turbo's are closing in on average 997 Turbo's... It's nuts! Every time I see a 964 Turbo 3.6 for sale on the Euro market they climb 5000 €!

    I really want to get me an M5 E28, sigh, they are following the same path on this continent - soon they'll be worth more than a new 5-series....

    I've driven both Turbo 3.6 and 993 Turbo, prefer the 3.6 its more scary, turbo violence and has a meaner presence. I drive mine 2-3 times a week, enjoyable car.

    He was never going to get on the list for that. Those cars were sold before people knew they even existed. But the best Porsche money is in any GT3 variant. I can still sell mine for what I paid for almost two years ago!

    You can get a 2009 997 PDK in the low $50k range!
