Hi everyone, I have read in so many posts about how important a good ground connection is and that a good engine ground can make a big difference in the operation of the car in various ways. Does anyone know how many engine ground straps there are on Mondials? Mine is a 1987 UK spec 3.2 coupe. Trying to source the part numbers to order them but is not so straight forward. Many thanks.
On my QV there is was only one. Heavy braided plated copper strap with large lugs. Unless it is frayed or otherwise deteriorated, I'd remove it, clean it and also the points where it attaches, and reassemble. I've used dielectric grease in an attempt to exclude contaminants. I've also added supplemental grounds, "triple redundancy" and all that. I like to use external tooth "star" lockwashers where electrical conductivity is needed under adverse environmental conditions. Do this and you'll be in fine shape.
Yes, I would agree it is important to have a good solid ground connection. It fixes alot of the gremlins for sure. Even my 07 Sahara needed a ground wire to solve my starting problems. The dealer couldn't fix it, I did my own research and solved it myself with a $6 gauge ground wire from battery to engine block. She starts ever time now. Parts as listed on RicambiAmerica website: #41 part#115668 1 Earth cable for engine This item has been superseded to a new part: 155073 #62 Part#116753 1 Copper braid from battery terminal hearth chassis This item has been superseded to a new part: 155068 As discussed by 308/328 guys: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/278575-engine-ground-strap-location.html best Image Unavailable, Please Login
btw, you might want to look at this main electrical connection at some point. Mine was cracked so I replaced it with new housing as they tend to get hot and crack the plastic. Located left rear side under clutch slave cylinder for US spec cars, UK cars maybe opposite side. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic guys, exactly what i needed. I will order the new ground strap and should be straight forward to fit. My car is currently at Ferrari having a new oil cooler which was leaking badly and also 2 new oil cooler pipes. Unfortunately the radiator is aluminium and the pipes have steel threads and the 2 metals just dont go well together and over many years they bonded and the threads stripped when they were removed. The 2 pipes are very expensive!!! I am also having new shift shaft seals, they were leaking badly too. In fact they put a new one in and still leaked straight away. Ive been told its all ok now. At the same time I had a wheel alignment done and mixtures checked. Then as i thought it was all over the clutch slave cylinder was also leaking badly! So Im getting that changed too. Oh well, at least it will be properly sorted when i get it back and my wallet will be in reverse mode Thanks

Tell me about it, I have been holding out on these leaks since i bought the car last year. I spent over $6000 in the first 12 months, but to be fair a lot of it was upgrades rather than repairs. But hey, every time i get in it and go for a drive it makes me so happy and thats priceless, unbeatable
Amen brother! Drove Robin to work this morning, can't stop smiling as we finally got low 80s and low humidity. Beautiful ride in. Cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aah, I am so jealous, I cant wait to get her back and just drive to everywhere and nowhere. We should be the 80s this weekend. It seriously does make me so happy and cant stop smiling Thanks gentlemen.
Mike you need to get hanks spider top, no? Don't you get leaves and stuff in there while parked? I use to get girls panties but I got tired of that, so ever since getting the top, I have no more explaining to do. .
Huuuuh, ppantties??? scobby scooby doooo ! Yes I want a Spider Top, but I made my own that's water proof! I was too lazy to put it up today, its cloudy but no rain and amazing low 80s. Looking forward to the drive home, you betcha!!! Sorry Peter, didn't mean to rub it, hope you get her back soon! cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thanks, its a Jeep Wrangler Sahara unlimited 4 door 4x4. Awesome DD IMO. Living in a Mid Atlantic State, you kinda have to have a winter car and a summer car. I've always had both for the last 15 years. It works out great and with my Sahara, its a convertible too, great on snow or sand at beach! Looks great with the rear off, almost like a mini Hummer. Nice Ferrari sticker on the back Haven't see those over here in the UK. Cheers.
Yep, i so agree. Ive been back n forth on getting one. I decided a Hummer H1 is just too darn big and the Unlimited is just right. If i can get my head to stop spinning around on different cars i want next, the Jeep is what I'm sure i'll go with. Great beach and DD Imo
The Unlimited is not the best for tow. I've been looking into it, I don't think it can tow ROBIN to Texas, total bummer. rated for 3500 pounds towing, Mondial ~3400 + trailer. My MG would have been perfect but I'll have to do the math to really be sure... Also depends on finding a light weight trailer to do the job that won't break my bank. sorry Peter for hijacking your thread. Hey Mike, not hijacked at all, I really like it. Just seen they're available here in the UK too. Like Ted says, where do you stop. Every time I see something I want it. My local Ferrari dealership where my Mondial is right now just bought a vintage Maserati Merak ss in amazing condition with only 17k miles. They bought it to get it running to use for events and for customers. I need a bigger garage
I have the same problem, love more cars than I can house and afford. Check out this sweet Merak cabrio, how cool is that? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh Mike, I wish you never posted that picture, been looking at it all day and cant cope Got any more???
Why YES! I like Giallo! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you have not seen this, it makes me want to buy a 'GEORGE' car and a Merak even if it has fake SS badging because I have a trained eye, LoL. love the 3 stooges... so GOOD! Just watched all 4 parts and was brilliant! So typical of the fuel gauges going up and down as they turned corners and the electrical breakdowns. Not sure how old that show was but prices have gone very high since then.
Thanks for posting this car. Ive never seen it or paid attention to it. WOW, this shot is gorgeous. I'll have to pay closer attention. Are they available and if so, what kind of money buys this red one? Image Unavailable, Please Login
