Are there restrictions on sharing price data, or does it perhaps need to be purchased? If you have price data for any of the cars in this thread, and the data was hard-earned in such a way that you wouldn't share it for free..... I am willing to pay for it.

And here is the final batch of the ads that are driving me nuts. Please note that any prices superimposed into the scans are only educated guesses, and most have no basis. The only exception is the 1973 ad for Doug Towne's LM, which I have 2 confirmations that $15k was his asking price, but still looking for one more confirmation on that one.

I'm also aware of the possibility that some of these transactions (with respect to these ads) may not have involved money at all, or the owner decided not to sell before any price was established. It is a certainty however, that there are regulars to this forum who have at least some relevant info. If you are one of them, I beg of you to PM me or post it here!

Did 4091 go directly to Joe Marcheti from Epstein? What did Epstein get to replace 4091?

Do you know who in Texas bought 4091 when Epstein almost sold it in 1978? Bob told me the car was on a truck headed to that person when he changed his mind and had the truck do a U-turn to bring it back.

Joe had the car listed for sale in the LA Times in June 81 @ 285k, and apparently was asking too much, because he had it for awhile. Perhaps the price hadn't changed in early 82. Even after trading in the 206S, he easilly still had another 150k to go.

    I cut&pasted the following bit from barchetta.cc

74 - Kerry Payne, Woodside, CA, USA
78 - Frederick Knoop, Atherton, CA, USA
78/mar - Bob Epstein, Piedmont, CA, USA 94611
    78 - repainted marrone
    78/aug Monterey Historic Races, Laguna Seca Bob Epstein #26 T&CC 4/79 p49
    79 - S. Bormann, USA
    81/apr - $285,000 - Buxbaum 815-727-1171, IL, USA
    82 - Peter G. Sachs, Stamford, CT, USA C78 p22
    82/aug/14-15 5th IC Oldtimer GP, Nuerburgring Peter Sachs #243 CaS 10/82 p31 HCR No.2 p148

4091 was offered at 285K in the car section for one week..at 265 or 285-by AMG of America guy named Richard Buxbaum...subsequent to jOE'S ownership...to the best of my recollection.
I called on this car's ad, as I had tried to by either the LM or the GTO from Bob in Oakland in 1978.
The LM was 75K, and the GTO was 100-150(this was 35 years ago after all)...
The 4091 car was not as easy a sell at the time as people would like to reminsce..
it WAS a rebody of a series 1 car(people asked about another re-body BACK to series 1!), and I know of 4 guys who passed on this car without even a look JUST BECAUSE of the S2 body: "everyone thinks of the early body when they think GTO-so I want ONLY the early body!"
    true stuff...
I was told simply that: "the car sold IMMEDIATELY for the asking, to a "collector" from CT...."

Buxbaum's Classic Motors of Hinsdale is now occupied by Continental AutoSports. 4091 would later be used in an anniversary tribute to the Car and Driver GTO vs. GTO test ...
