I bought this 2004 SL 500 new for my wife as a gift, but she never drives it, right now it has 33k miles on it and it is in pristine condition. I think I paid somewhere around $105k for it (including tax).

Not a collectable, but a very nice car, how does one market or value a better than average car? Consignment?

I'd love the garage space for, uh, one of my toys...

MB has poor resale value unfortunately even if in great condition. There are quite a few low miles mid-2000s MBs for sale in South Florida (older population that doesn't commute as much) and they are pretty discounted.

The G-wagens have kept the best value from what I've seen. a 10+ year old one with high miles can still go for 30-35% of MSRP. Meanwhile a 10 year old S500 sells at 15-20% of MSRP with same amount of miles and a lot of times lower.

I'd check out classifieds with similar cars as yours in the area. SLs do keep higher values from what I've seen than the sedans.

these cross in to the territory where out of principle, you hold on to it and give it to your kids as opposed to giving it away for pennies.

Unfortunately I think ferraripete is right. Much more value in using it than selling it, unless the garage space is the overriding factor.

You might set up an alert on DuPontRegistry.com for 2003-2005 SL500s or search there for ones with ~30K miles to get a sense of what asking prices are.

My FIL just sold his 2003 SL55 for $30k. It was in great condition, fairly low miles. Can't recall the actual mileage though.

FWIW, last year my buddy bought a pristine blk/blk 20K mile 2005 SL500 with a 2 yr/ 100K bumper to bumper warranty for just under 30K all in.

    Gorgeous and timeless cars...

An SL55 is much different than an SL500...

Both have terrible resale as a % of MSRP at this age, even with low mileage. I'd love an SL55 by the way!!
