If true, then most likely tactical games to raise his worth. I'd love it if there was more behind the story, we need a bit of driver drama.

In order to comment this we should acknowledge that Alonso´s manager also works for Carlos Sainz Jr.

But in case that Alonso quits, good bye, good luck and Roma traditoribus praemia non dat.

The best thing for the sport would be a seat swap Alonso vs Vettel.

Alonso and Seb at the cans would still be pretty epic: Senna vs Prost at McLaren

Seb would be an idiot to allow this to happen. Alonso can drive. Unlike Webber

This would be the biggest story in F1 since Schumi to Ferrari.

If Ferrari loses Alonso it's 100% their fault.

    I too call BS!

The F1 reset button's being pressed for 2014 with the V6 turbo's coming in, along with major chassis changes, so there is no real advantage for Alonso to jump ship to Red Bull.

Just about every team and their cars are going to be a gamble!

For all we know, Ferrari could produce the best car of the lot and walk the Championships whilst Red Bull fail to finish races due to reliability issues!

McLaren could get the whole design right and beat everyone.
    Mercedes might get it right.
    Lotus might dominate.

Anyone could have a hit or a miss in these situations, as the old saying goes: "Past performance is no guarantee of future success!

With such a major change in the regulations, it's too much of a gamble to jump ship! - Better the Devil you know than the one you don't!

The latest on this subject from the BBC: BBC Sport - Fernando Alonso 'very happy' at Ferrari after Red Bull link

Fernando Alonso has insisted he is "very happy" at Ferrari amid claims he has approached Red Bull about moving there for next season.

Sources say Alonso's manager has told Red Bull the Spaniard is potentially available to partner Sebastian Vettel.

Asked whether his representative had approached Red Bull, Alonso said: "I don't think so. Not that I know."

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali said: "First of all we have a contract with him [Alonso] and for sure everyone knows about it.

"Fernando is an asset for the team. We need him to work very closely with everyone at this difficult moment in the season."

Ferrari insist Alonso has a cast-iron contract until the end of 2016, with no get-out clauses of any kind, and say he has made no contact with Red Bull.

They believe the claims that Alonso has approached Red Bull are mischief-making by their rivals aimed at destabilising the Italian team at a crucial moment in the championship.

Alonso's manager Luis Garcia Abad told BBC Sport there had been "no discussions" with Red Bull.

He said a meeting between himself and Horner on Friday at the Hungarian Grand Prix was about Red Bull junior driver Carlos Sainz, who is also represented by Abad.

My thoughts are exactly the same as Domenicali's, this is simply Red Bull trying to destabilise Ferrari and Alonso by spreading rumours that are not true, based on other things going on that are not related to Alonso at all!

Whilst this is all part of the game with F1, it's a bit sad and pathetic really!

or it's the spirit of Enzo, making sure that Ferrari is still in the news after starting 5th and finishing 5th and dropping to 3rd in the driver's championship.

    just a thought!

Vettel/Fernando (or Fernando/Vettel) on the same team would seem to me to make Christian Horner even more brave/silly than Ron Dennis during the the Prost/Senna era!

    That makes no sense whatsoever!

Where's the benefit for Ferrari in this story?

All it does is create elements of confusion, uncertainty and mistrust within the team causing a destabilisation of the personnel and a drop in team morale!

Enzo Ferrari would start these types of stories to benefit himself and his team. Some were started to play one driver off against another, to push them to perform better, but this story isn't going to do that!

If Ferrari were looking to offload Alonso then yes, they may start this kind of rumour, but as it stands, it serves them no positive function in any way, shape or form!

I will never support RB or be caught dead in energy drink attire but I would not mind seeing the likes of Alonso or Kimi schooling Seb at RB since he is so unwilling to venture to a new team.

I am almost certain he will be schooled by either Kimi or Alonso and it will shut the Seb fanboys once and for all.

Equal equipment b*tches bring it! Seb fanboys should be so worried!

Why would he want to do that? Best car on the grid and he should contemplate leaving?

He called me the other day and told me he wants to stay at RB and win 6 WDCs to beat MS's record at Ferrari, and then win 6 more at Ferrari.

He also told me he's disappointed that MS left a bunch of records that are going to be so easy to beat.

I agree Andreas. I don't see how this so called partnership is going to work.

However, assuming Alonso really does go to RB. There's a chance Vettel might be heading the other direction as well. Besides the fact of driving for Ferrari, Vettel is already a triple WDC, and potentially a quadraple WDC at the end of this season. He has nothing to prove.

However, he can switch to Ferrari, and maybe even pull a Schumi part 2. He's already won championships. He's young. He won't feel the pressure.

Nevertheless, i doubt this is going to happen.

Alonso won't go to RB because he will be spanked by Vettel and he knows it. Better to stay where he can get obvious preferential treatment, and continue to brag about how he over-achieves in a bad car. Why go to RB and have that myth quickly dispelled?

Spiegel reports that RB confirmed talking to Alonso's management, and that Alonso did not want to comment about his future at Ferrari when talking to Spanish media.

No doubt that there was a discussion about Alonso moving to Red Bull. But, doubtful that could happen. Alonso's contract, mostly supported by Santander, would likely prevent him leaving Ferrari in the next few years.

Santander would not accept a sponsor role secondary or worse to Red Bull.

I believe in karma, Alonso was never right at Ferrari despite his skills. He needs to go, anywhere. I love Ferrari cars, just do not care for their choice of lead drivers. I have a feeling Horner knows that Alonso would be destructive for the Red Bull team, so any discussion, is strictly gamesmanship on Red Bull's part.

They are messing with the completion's brains.

FA left Mclaren and Santander stayed and unlike FA, completed their contract with Mclaren. They have publicly stated, and actions prove they are independent of FA.

If FA moves so be it. He has given Ferrari more than enough time to provide a winning car he shouldnt have to almost over-drive to win. Let the games begin. Speculation or mind games it might be, but FA at another team is not at all out of the question.

Frankly Ferrari look weaker now than 2 years ago. FA has reached the mid point of his career he needs to do something for another title.

A rational look at this is here: http://pitpass.com/49622-Silly-season-gets-sillier
