It appears this question was asked a while back, but I haven't been able to go through the lengthy pages of responses to get to the bottom of it. Although....one of the first responders pointed to Redheaded as a source that claimed 568 were built in 1985 and 819 were built in 1986. Still, I go to that website and cannot find that information or any other verifiable source.

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction? I'm writing a piece on my Dad's TR (SN 56429), and I'd love to know how many of the early flying mirror Testarossas were made.

Thanks everyone... I'm also going to post on Ferrari Life.

Cynthia I think those numbers from redhaead are probably the most accurate you'll find. I searched on the net and couldn't find anything else.

Are you still trying to sell your car?

Hi Claude, I looked at that Redheaded site and I don't even see any statement about how many flying mirror TRs were produced. Someone on this forum said so but I don't see it on that site, so I'm a little reluctant to make that statement. The car is currently getting an engine out service, and then it's going to a live auction in Monterey in August... I'm sending in my write-up later today. Cynthia

    Hi Cynthia,

The info quoted is at the bottom of this linked page:

    Red Headed - Testarossa

It does not explicitly say high mirror production and not knowing exact serial number of the switch means using the stated numbers as an approximation is likely the best you can do.

    Curtis

Would still love to be able to buy Glenn's car but don't have the space...

Here (down the page a little in "Production"):

    Red Headed - Testarossa

but he's quoting the yearly TR production for those years -- not a direct count of TR with the single high mounted mirror. If yours is a US, and you are selling in the US/Canada, I'd go with ~400 as the maximum available US pool -- JMO.

Thanks Curtis and Steve! How did I miss that? my mouse is on the fritz and doesn't scroll easily, so I never got to the bottom of the page. Mine is a Euro version but I'll just go with the higher numbers to be on the safe side. Thank you..... I'll let you all know if the car sells... Cynthia

    Cynthia, I'd use these numbers.

    Total production per year (non-official):

    Year---Production--------------USA Model Year s/n (*1)----------US versions (*2)
1984-----110------------------(not used as USA Model Year)----- -
    1985-----568------------------55773 - 59501--------------------121
    1986-----819------------------59861 - 67019--------------------300

*1 = Approximate serialnumber ranges of the related USA Model Year.
*2 = Approximate number of USA/Canadian versions made for the related USA Model Year.

You and me both, Claude! Hmmm, since you are looking for a TR. Why don't you buy my white one so I can buy Cynthia's and help her out? It really is the gentlemanly thing to do...:D

Thanks evryone for the info as I was also wondering the same. My '86 is a US car OK for Calif. Black and tan. Makes me feel better to read this and see I made right decision to zero in on a black Flying mirror, even when some were saying to stay away from one. Yellow I'm sure is much more rare.

But you can't feel the love in a single mirror car the way you do in a "twin" mirror car!!! :D

STUCK?!?! Ouch! I looked for a yellow TR for quite a while before I bought my white/red - a classy combo if I may say so myself. Mine is well sorted and has taken good care of me for 7 years.

I actually talked with Cynthia's father Glenn about this car in question prior to buying mine. We danced around the subject but a deal on his car was never mentioned/structured. I know it was a tough decision for Cynthia to sell but I wish her the best outcome. Just wish I could find a way to swing it in my direction.

Ha ha ha ha! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the above exchange....

Actually, I like the white ones. I told Curtis the same on the phone.

My Dad was not a yellow Ferrari kind of guy, but he just fell in love with this one.... wish me luck. The auction house just posted my description.... stay tuned.

I was only joking. I already have two red interior cars my 308 and the Corvette. I like red interiors. IT'S JUST THAT I WANT A YELLOW or black TR. I fell in love with the yellow on this car. What would you be asking for your car? Just in case ;-)

    Hello,

Do you by any chance have your 1986 Testarossa Black with tan interior. I just picked on up last month and am very curious roughly how many black were produced globally.
