    Would be great if someone traced on paper an original (or if feeling really adventurous recreated in CAD), scanned it, and posted it so we have a template for cutting. I ordered some of this material as well as mine were completely missing.

    thank you very much
    is the first time I see the styrofoam, if original it must be a US-model thing....
    but I would think it isn`t, I haven`t seen any documentation about this topic

    The remnants on my trunk lid rear width span make me think this was open cell foam not a rubber trim gasket.
    Has anyone else found anything different?

    I think it's key to somehow determine the following;
    - is the trunk width seal a part that left the factory?
    - if yes, what is the material and profile of the seal?
    - if yes, what series and/or version (US vs Euro) of Dino's does it apply to? For those of us with the much more limited L or M series, it may be yet another distinction with the very high volume E series.

    A jigsaw definitely doesn't work (for me)...I tried with several blades, both fine and rough cut. I had to use a Dremel with a circular cutting blade...which made doing the curved portion `interesting'.

    The sponge seal on the underside edge of the trunk lid is shown on page 7 of the Scaglietti bodywork spare parts catalogue and referred to as "Guarnizione sportello poster". The drawing is dated 7/10/1970 so it presumably covers the M series.

    Cicognani carry the correct sponge profile in 10mm x 15mm fitment. It's the rectangular profile shown on the bottom right of this page shown in sizes ranging from 10x10 to 19x14 Sponge

    I would think that is the seal that fits around the sides of the trunk though I can't be sure. I ordered the piece for under the trunk lid from the page on their website I posted above. It may be worth dropping them an email with either a copy of the relevant Tavola diagram or a photo of the area on your car so that they can advise you on the correct part.

    Once properly identified how to order the correct item on their web site, it would be great if someone in the US bought a bulk amount and then sold off sections to cover cost. Shipping from Europe to US is outrageous, so sharing the cost amongst multiple buyers would make it reasonable.

    I found my invoice from Cicognani. They call this item Profila in Spugna No. 115 (code SP 115). It is the 10mm by 15mm profile that is used on the trunk lip.

    What is the recommended type of adhesive to use with this type of material?

    There appears to be quite a few variations on the trunk sealing method. No mention of anything in the TAV's either.

    Here's another: Early unrestored euro E-series, the seal is as it appears in post #29 however it runs the full width (no breaks) of the trunk lid and turns up at the ends to finish under the deck. No evidence of the foam corner blocks and they wouldn't fit with the rubber seal turned up.

    I saw the same seal configuration as my previous post on an unrestored late L-series.

    Matthias, is this what you mean't applied to 206/L series or did you mean the seal did not turn up at the ends?

    This is getting a little crazy! Now it implies there may have been at least 4 different trunk lid seal options;
    - no seal
    - seal similar to what goes along sides of trunk (Andrew's post #63)
    - seal that's a flat rectangular strip (Iain's post #60)
    - overhanging seal (dino246gts's post #50)

    Then there's the corner seal;
    - no seal (Andrew's post #63)
    - foam (Coop's post #27, dino246gts's post #50)
    - rubber like (aka tile cutter pad) material (Iain's post #41)

    Yikes!

    Here's my 1st attempt of my tile cutter pad wedge...will need to adjust the bottom section of its profile, depending on final `answer' regarding the trunk lid full width seal.

    It seems to me a water cutter would do the job nicely, many granite fabricators use them, I have a contact in Brooklyn, once set up it could cut a batch perfectly in seconds

    A bread knife, or better, an electric filet knife, carving knife.

    They cut it commercially with a VERY high speed band saw blade.

    All that said, I've just done a big job where 1/2" up to 1.5" cut pretty well using LARGE quality scissors, from Val's upholstery shop!

    Shhhh!

    I put the bread knife back too, after washing it!
    I have tons of scrap pieces of the material (Armaflex closed cell insualtion foam sheet) up to 1.75" thick if anyone wants some to play with.
    It's scrap.....

    Typo: I mean't to say there is no mention of this seal in the SAT sheets. They are shown in the body TAVs (Scaglietti 206 and M bodywork manuals) as Iain mentioned.
    Also, the two unrestored cars I mentioned were Italian delivery FWIW.

    Just finished installing my new Styrofoam in my trunk.

    It is about 1mm thicker than what was in there originally. I only had one side totally intact so I was able to know for sure the shape. I took the liberty in the centre and it turned out nice.

    Now for the trunk Wedges. I was going to ask someone give me a dimension of the wedge especially of the thickest part. I know from the I know the all have to be fitted. It would be nice to have a starting point. But instead I traced off my screen the picture that HMB-Dino posted. I should be able to make the perfect size on my photocopy machine.

    Yes I did and they are now installed. I do have extra rubber wedge material. Let me know if anyone needs some.
