According to Bild (ahem, ok) Ferrari has made Kimi an offer to drive for them in 2014. $ 15 million salary plus support for his own hockey team.

Just bluffing to keep Alonso in check?

The hockey team part is so bizarre that it makes the whole story credible

Why would they want him anyway? He was miserable there last time and slower than Phil. Sounds like BS.

Not sure about that: according to Bild they made this offer at the beginning of the Hungary weekend, before Fonzo made his comments

It is more a reaction to rumors that Fred wants the second RB seat and Ferrari needs a top driver. Only Kimi is avail

Fred to RB and Kimi to Ferrari would certainly stir things up. Another angle would be a Kimi/Massa swap with Lotus...

Thing is, he got real lucky Hamilton choked, then got smoked by Massa the next year. I like Kimi, but he's one of the luckiest WDCs ever and I doubt he will ever win another one.

That said, Alonso + Kimi in the same team? Awesome.

But if they're talking about Alonso to Red Bull and we get Kimi, I wouldn't be excited about that.

What's sad is Massa makes like $12 mil IIRC

Yeah. But he has to pay for all the cars he wrecks out of his own pocket.

:D What's your take on this - would you be OK with losing Alonso for Kimi? I wouldn't

All of these rumors are designed by Bernie to keep interest as the points spread widens.

Kimi to Ferrari and Alonso to Red Bull. Alonso would make a great #2.

This forum is pretty amazing. Such little appreciation for the guy that has kept Ferrari from being relegated to the midfield for the last 3 years.

This is very interesting. Like the Bild but from PF-1-

--Kimi Raikkonen insists he will only sign for a team that "feels right" to him even if it is "stupid" to others.--

The Finn, who returned to Formula One with Lotus in 2012, has a tough decision to make over the next few weeks when it comes to who he races for next season.

I think it is a non story:

I believe Kimi is going to RB (or stay at Lotus) and that Alonso is also staying at Ferrari.

That said, if Alonso would actually leave Ferrari (stranger things have happened, see Hamilton) we do need the next top driver and Kimi would fit that bill.

So I'm not a fan of an Alonso vs Kimi swap, but I take Kimi as a stop gap in a heartbeat.

PS: Kimi's comments that his decision might not be understood by everybody does leave me scratching my head. He could be crazy enough to go back to Ferrari just because they sponsor his beloved hockey team.

I for one would like to see Kimi/Alonso at Ferrari next year.

But regardless of the driver, I think they mostly need an improved car.
