I am considering the matte silver (they call it aluminum) color for my F12. Anyone here have experience with one of these matte colors from Ferrari that could describe living with them? I think they look great.

When I was at the atelier at the factory last week I saw an F12 that was a dark grey matte and it was epic. There are a lot of internet myths about matte colors (including the notion that they are not clear coated, which is not true) and I mostly want to understand better what I am getting into ..

Read the owners manual on the steps necessary to maintain the finish and the specific instructions on how to clean it. You may decide to change your mind. Are you sure it is clear coated because the instruction in the manual does not make sense if it is clear coated because than you can treat the paint like any other paint and you can not.

Have you considered ordering a "normal" color and doing a matte wrap?

I've heard that the Matte finish cars just have a satin finish clear coat on them. Not sure if it's true, it's just what I was told.
I would imagine if that was true, you should be able to polish it just like any other car. But what happens if one gets a light scratch? Will it have a shiny spot if one were to polish it?

I have. May be the way to go although I am wondering if a wrap can look as good as original paint ..

That's what I understand to be the case as well. Apparently you don't get light scratches ..

I recently saw a brand new, white Jaguar wrapped in matte white. While I don't like the matte finishes, you could not tell if it was wrapped or from the factory. I think it's better to wrap in your case. You may outgrow the matte look, and you'll have your original shiny paint underneath protected. IMHO, the matte cars look like they're primed for painting, not yet finished. It's and Ok look for the track though.
