The rusty Biturbo probably needs less work.

The bumpers again! You guys never let up ...
I guess we'll have to wait for Walter's take. He can't blame this one on Detomaso ...

By the looks of the car and the description it's worth bidding on. It must be a repaint. The "buy it now" seems a bit high -- but not terribly high for somebody who wants one of these.

Definitely a saveable car which is rare these days. Maserati's like this are so difficult to restore though.......

To me it looks like the car was damaged by flood or water. I see too many water stains (like on the dashboard grey mousehair), too much discoloration on the leather and carpets, and rust on many many places (engine bay, doors, etc).

Even the manuals show damage from water.

Probably only worth as a parts car, since it has the ugly citroen stuff and the ugly US bumbers... yuk

Looks almost too nice for this thread, but will cost more to restore than it will ever be worth.

Someone mentioned water damage, which is the impression I got too. Especially from the interior. Florida humidity, or another Sandy survivor?

That is an extreme example -- but it's exactly what this thread is about. :)

Well, firstly the the thread is mislabeled and secondly I withdraw the latest Merak though I'm certainly not endorsing it.

some people are out of the mind... "once in a life time maserati" ... wtf !!!

we are going to see a lot more... maserati was making this junk for nearly 20 years (around 1980-2001?)...

The offer of the day is a matching title :)

Just a reminder, most Meraks end up like this over here as well. They got that way because even though they are lovely to look at most were a bit too heavy and came with an under powered engine yet were very expensive to fix.

Once a car gets "underwater" they rust to pieces eventually. The only reason those 3500's and Ghibli's are being brought back is because suddenly people think they should have one and they probably can't afford the equivalent Ferrari.

Before that they all rusted to pieces as well. There is no shortage of rust bucket Ghiblis, Indys around today. Some of them are even ocean going ...

The 3500 is now tougher to find.
