My wife and I are probably at the upper end (age wise) of the Scud demographic (early 60's). Funny thing is that we both love the stock '09 Scud seats! I'm 6'4" and she is 5'5"...pretty extreme variance, but these seats seem to fit each of us like a glove. We also have a luxo-equipped (in comparison) '08 F430, but find it less comfortable than the Scud. Go figure.

I've owned an obscene mess of cars during a debauched, over-indulgent auto-buying life and I can say, without reservation, I have yet to drive a car that stirs every corpuscle of my body and reaches down to the deep depraved recesses of my soul like the Scud. I know there are faster (latest 911 Turbo s), smoother, quieter and more techno cars (458) out there...but after the test drives I get out and can't wait to get back to my Scud. That day may change, but the laws are pushing trends away from such cars...ergo, Scuds (C.S.s and such) may be a modest investment, a great side benefit.

This is the exact reason that I bought the Scud as my first Fcar. I previously owned a wide variety of cars (Aston, Noble, Lotus, etc) so I didn't want a plush interior. I wanted a Ferrari in it's raw form and the Scud has delivered.

On a side note, the first mod I did was the Capristo remote valve control. Now my car is turned up to 10. I'm debating on the S-Line (freshmeat's and dbonvillain's cars sound amazing!) but I'll wait before turning it up to 11 :)

I agree. Having had a 430 w daytonas prior to my scud, the scud seats are way more comfortable despite having less padding.

Also agree w the capristo valve controller. Definite must have. Ferrari really should make this standard on all their cars or at very least an over-priced option. They could easily mark it up a couple grand and people would gladly pay for it.

2012 World Dairy Expo Choco Milk results: :)

Whole Milk = Country Delite Farms of Tennessee finished with a perfect 100 score, the only chocolate milk to do so.

Lowfat = Winder Farms in Utah.

Had the same thing happen to me. Was looking for a 430 for a while and decided to give the scud a try. Was hooked ever since. The market for these cars has been strong lately it seems. In my autotrader searches I know of at least 2 scuds that have been re-listed at higher prices than the original ads. One increased in asking price by 7k and another by 9k over the past few months (since June).

Steve...I forgot to look at your Capristo setup when we were at SuperCar Sunday last month (hey, it has been a while since your postings about the install...I'm not that old...yet). Eddie said you might be coming over to Victoria Gardens on the 11th...if you do, I'll check it out then. Now that Eddie has his 16M, it would be a good joint install. Have you done any other mods since the lights?

I think this might violate DOT sound regulations if it was OEM.

I just watched the video on their web page...amazing sound!! Hopefully the mods will allow the link which is an amature type video depicting a Scud on a very high speed/rpm pass in what appears to be dairy/farm country.

Sounds great. I also like the idea of saving more weight with those pipes but worry about drone inside the cabin.

Definitely have to get the Capristo remote valve controller. I find myself just juicing throttle just to hear the exhaust with valves open.
    Steve - help with install?

+1; The controller also gives you things you dont have without it, like snap backfires upshifts from 1-2, 2-3, and sometimes 3-4th. Greatly amplified with aftermarket, no-precat, headers (scuds dont have precats, I know...).

This is the absolute truth :) Saturday morning we were on our way to breakfast and Eddie had a GoPro camera mounted to the side of his new 16M...he kept hitting the gas to hear the exhaust note and knocked off the GoPro (well, maybe he didn't knock it off, but it fell and the assertion his heavy throttle foot knocked it off makes the story more interesting). Fortunately the GoPro was recovered and the drive continued without further incident.

Vs. dropping $650 on a controller, why not just pull the lines that close the valves and run with them open all the time?
That's what my local friend had done since pretty much day 1 and was done to mine when I got the car. I can't imagine wanting to hear the car with the valves closed and routed through a muffler :)

You guys are killing me. Lol. I may end up buying another scud , maybe a 16 m. It truly is the most exciting modern car out there. If you have a scud defintely get the capristo valve opener best mod for money.

Exactly Trent. That's why it would be a self controlled option with the requisite disclaimer. Maybe even a big red sticker on the dash. hahaha

Yup, I found myself doing this too. Hence 'the scud makes me drive like an as$hole' comment that my friend/fellow scud owner once told me. At first I thought it was just him, but once you drive a scud you understand the comment. Yes officer, it wasn't my fault! The car made me do it!

I didn't know that's what it's called, but it is a GLORIOUS sound! It's as close to the 599XX shifting/snapping/popping sound that you get.

Hmmmm, I dunno bout that one. Gopro's have been mounted on planes without falling off. I've done 150+ (under controlled conditions of course) and it didn't fall off. Maybe it's Eddie thinking that his 16m is a lotus that you can throw around and change directions like a go kart that threw it off.

The black scud at FOW has a ton of records on car fax, at 3500 miles the rear brake pads were replaced. Not sure if this is a red flag or not but new pads at 3500 miles seems like a tracked car or a car driven very hard, unless the brake pads were defective, not sure.

I myself prefer red, so the black car is not an option for me.

Hey Larry, did you look at the listing for the 09 grigio silverstone scud with partial red interior at MotorcarsGeorgia? I know you mentioned you would like some red in the interior. I thought that car looked sweet.

For me, there's a drone at 2-3k RPM when the valves are open. Gave me a headache. Plus around the neighborhood, I close the valves to draw less attention from cops and stalkers.

No, I think my scud is good. Could be a little lower but don't want to deal with bottoming out. Don't have any issues with stock (aka 4x4) height. Just a good detail from Joe at Superior Shine every couple months.

Unfortunately I can't make it on the 11th. Will be up in Norcal playing Pebble and Spyglass at a 'work function'. hahaha

In all fairness, Eddie was relatively well behaved at the time...following my wife and I in our Scud. I looked in the mirror and he had fallen way back and was getting ready to pop a U-turn. Might have been that the GoPro was mounted a bit too much on the curve of the door???

I agree. The drone was a bit too much for my ears. Mine was running pretty much at full blast when I got it and I had the lines put back on. Ferrari San Diego did the work (under warranty - thanks) and told me that the vacuum tubes had been plugged, then placed back on, but that the clamps had expanded a little bit causing a vacuum leak. Once reinstalled, it was much more civilized.

I would like to tell my exhaust what to do as opposed to a computer and vacuum pressure. Capristo sounds good to me :)
