    Hi,
New to the forums and I was wondering if anyone can offer an opinion on this GT4 on eBay?
The owner doesn't seem to have much info, claiming it was his father's who has since past. I did do a lookup on the chassis VIN at dinoregistry.com and it did show it was in Michigan in 89-90 and that is it's current location.

It seems to have a Salvage title so I'm assuming some kind of wreck or other damage totaled it at some point. It was supposedly restored in 2001.

Currently the bids are up to $12,599 so I'm wondering what would be a good range for this car, given so little information. This would be my first purchase and I really like the GT4 Dino styling and I have no problem dealing with the mechanical side myself. I understand dealing with the cost of the parts seems to be the biggest issue.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice or whether I should just wait and keep watching as I really would like to find a 308 GT4 Dino.

    Thanks in advance!

Perhaps, but if the rebuild is complete with low miles and ppi is good it's worth it if car has been maintained. Your other option is spend 15k now and 20+ later.

Anyway this horse has beaten many times. Buy the best you can afford.

Sorry, I didn't realize I had posted in this thread as well as the eBay thread.

As it would happen, I ended up winning the auction today at $13K. So for good or bad, I'm the owner ;-) I mentioned in the eBay thread that either way, having a fun little driver even if it's got a mixed pedigree is ok by me. Given that I'll do all the mechanical myself, it's really just parts and my time.

I look forward to associating with all you great Ferrari owners!
    Thanks.

    Good day Erik,

To me perfect means everything is correct and nothing is missing...Given my definition there are a few things missing in the engine bay... The fuel evap canister is missing and no hose is present. The air pumps look to be missing, although it is hard to tell. They should be there, as you can clearly see the rear bank diverter valve. I also noticed that the air cleaner nuts are incorrect. I believe the steering wheel is incorrect... although if I am wrong perhaps someone will chime in. The drivers door mirror looks odd to me. Also, the tires are not OEM XWX's although the spare looks to be.

Overall not a bad looking car, but it certainly has been repainted (although I would guess most have been by now given their age), as you can see over-spray above the front radiator on the inside of the front bonnet.

    Cheers,

    Sam

My car is 10766 and a great car this is only 3 cars away from mine. The mirrors are not original but the car looks in good shape. I would buy it! Get a leak down, look for records, does it have its pouch and books, how many of the tools are there?

Sam is correct on all counts…although I know of one with the original paint! :)

I saw 10770 on ebay and at the time it had all the tools in the trunk with the NLA carpet see pic.

Not perfect but certainly real nice…if it drives as good as it looks and you are OK with red…swapping out the mirrors, steering wheel, radio (not period correct), air cleaner nuts and adding the carbon canister are no biggies.

Actually two cars from yours Rob if I am correct. This looks a pretty clean car to me, when you see the tools and boot carpet in good shape as well as everything else, it's not a bad sign that it has had a reasonable life. I don't know U.S. values but that aside it looks good. Waz. P.S. it looks like the original plug spanner may not be there.

FWIW.....It's been on the market for well over a year. A Cavallino judge picked it apart for me just from the pictures. (But that's what judges do!)

I wonder if it has been on the market so long because it is overpriced or just not a great car. What did the judge have to say about it?
I guess I will keep looking. I'm not a very good mechanic so I would prefer too buy one that is well sorted.
Any members thinking of parting with their GT4??
