I received a E-mail from a fella in Norway who now has a 1967 911S that I used to have and he is restoring. The car was a special ordered car and came with some interesting features that were removed in 1969 when it was imported to the USA, like hood mounted Cibie lights, rear wiper, fog lights, steel wheels. etc. the wiring was all there for the electrical stuff and I went to great lengths to find and reinstall all that stuff. The new owner in his restoration wants to make the car "original" so he removed the hood lights and some other stuff because I installed it and he wants to make the car into an original 1967 911S.
So I am confused? I did install them, using OEM in the original location. Original? no but...
I believe all the documentation I sold with the car did not make it to the currant owner or he has a different idea of what original means than I do.
This has been kind of eating at me because I believe a unique car has been ruined but others believe a car has been saved to original and still some others believe I should not be upset since I modified the engine (twin plugged it, oil bypass, Carrera pump) so the currant owner should feel free to modify the body on a already molested car.
    Well what does "original" mean?

I think he means euro spec "original" not US model spec. DOT made US cars look really ugly with all of the safety equipment it had to have. Just my guess!

Original to me refers to the state of the car when it left the factory. If the car received factory produced upgrades at the dealership prior to delivery to the first owner(with documentation), that is an acceptable original state.

If the car was ordered with and delivered with those options, they would be the original state.

This is my thought. I believe a dealer installed factory item can be considered 'original' equipment.
    Thanks for the responses.

    +2.

I would go by the Porsche CoA for the car.

What safety equipment on US cars...???

    Can't think of ANY on a 1967 911.

They looked exactly like the Euro cars.
