We just started another 355 project... a 1995 355 GTS with 50K miles and in much need of some love.
We'll be completing a full major service and some restoration work to bring this Fcar back to life for another 50K

    Hi Steve-
Looks like a fun project. I'm curious, do you find it easier/faster to remove the oil tank with the subframe? I've always left it in, but for no particular reason. I understand it'll come out anyway for cleaning, etc. Just wondering about the removal process.

The last belt service was at 30K miles, back in 06. Headers were leaking, so I had the shop put in tubi headers and exhaust. I drove the piss out of the car for 4 years, and it has mostly sat for the last 3 years/5k miles.

Im happy to see it finally getting the love it deserves.

I'm happy you're an owner who finally enjoyed his car! I wish you the next best 50,000 miles from this F355. Fact is, your driven example runs and operates better then some 5,000 miles garage queens. Kudos to you sir!

Ya, this project will really show a transformation in this 355!

We always leave the tank with the engine and just drop the whole assy with the subframe...just seems easier. Just disconnect the mounts and leave the hoses connected...then they are easy to access once its out of the car.

    Stay tuned for more updates
    Steve

What black paint did you use on the top of the motor, the Center valley cover and the intake plenums?

We cleaned and reconditioned the original black finish, and then repainted the silver lines. You would be surprised how well the black looks after being treated. We did the same to the airbox covers.

Hmm I guess then can you tell me what you treated it with because I was just thinking of hitting mine with a fresh coat of paint but I haven't taken the parts off and looked at them to plan an attack. But Im away from the car so just wondering what you did.

Great transformation Steve...I am sure the owner is going thrilled.
When is this 355 going to hit the streets again?

I don't want to give away all our secrets :)... But after a good cleaning we used 303 Aerospace Protectant to recondition the black intake covers. We also repainted the silver stripes
