    Hi
    Any ideas v gratefully received.

I have a 2004 spider. I have only had it for a month and I am on a steep learning curve!

The roof is fully down and refuses to go back up. Just get the bleeping noise and no action at all. I have a warning light for the roof which alternates with a warning light for the engine bonnet.

Here is my naieve theory: I had noticed a rattle from the rear over bumps which sounds like some movement in the engine boot lid, although it was always secure when I checked it after a run. The last trip I did, a warning light came on intermittendly (only for few seconds) showing that the engine bonnet was open. Again it all looked fine.

I have read that if the engine bonnet is open then the roof wont work - so I think the engine bonnet must be the root problem. But it all looks secure and the brass contacts
    look clean.

    Thanks for any ideas

The bonnet switch is prone to being intermittent so you may want to check it, clean it, etc. Other than that, I'd take it in. Messing with the top without really knowing what you're doing can have quite unpleasant re$ult$

Bospike -- if you have to refill after 4-5 cycles, you have a leak. Refilling that often is not normal. I have never had to refill mine.

You should get that fixed. There have been several incidents where leaking rear roof rams have caused the oil to get on the manifolds, and it burns!!!!

It turned out that it was only a seized cable that fooled the sensor into thinking the lock on the engine bay door was open and that in turn gave the open engine door warning light and in turn prevented the roof from operating.
    Thanks all.
