Someone needs to unplug you. Technically I WAS in the placebo group clueless. Do you ever read a whole post before you spout your nonsense? I was the poster child you dipstick. Hey genius "The proof is in the pudding" means my car is, let me go slow for you Tim, R E L I A B L E. This entire thread is about one thing and one thing only: TO MAKE OUR CARS MORE RELIABLE. That's why Ketel bought the kit in the first place. Dave is the only guy out there trying, and succeeding I might add, in doing this. I'm not worried at all about Dave stiffing me. You on the other hand I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw you.

The only way to know if your car is reliable ****** is to drive it, and I mean drive it alot. Do you really think that by not putting miles on your car that someday way down the road its going to be worth 1/4 of a million $. Hey smart guy listen up: you don't have a car like that. Not a chance in hell moron. Or is the reason you don't drive because you're afraid of not making it back home. Your cars sitting safely in the garage tells no one nothing about the reliability of your car; zip, nada. Ferrari could not care less if our cars are reliable, same with most private shops. Lord knows you don't have a frickin' clue on how to do that.

The tin and gold issue for you is the only thing that counts, all hellfire and brimstone crap. For the real drivers we don't care what the kit is made of because it works. If your cars ain't broke then don't fix them (easy when you drive about 100 mi a month). For me and many many others this kit works fantastic (tin/gold, tin/tin, cat crap/bailing wire-we don't care) and will long outlive the OEM crap Ferrari installed in the first place NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK.

I've read all the references you have provided unlike you who likes to read selectively and it does not change a thing about this kit. Because a timeline for your supposed failures are completely and totally unknown, but we know the timeline for original crap, like what you have in your cars. The only thing you really know is that nothing lasts forever. Wow, now there's a newsflash for you.

Yes when you actually drive a car (something you know absolutely nothing about) you are at great risk and it has nothing at all to do with this kit. And as everyone on this thread is learning or has already learned is that the only hemorrhoid on here...is you.

Now go look at your cars and then go back in the house, because you never know just looking at them might throw a CEL.

He's being a smartass and I'm being a smartass. Kids at play Dave Rocks. Truth is I answered all of his smartass crap and there's no way you can tell me your car is reliable by driving it 1000 mi/year. Sorry I'm not buying it. Too many F car owners don't drive their cars either because they think they're going to be worth lots of dough in the future (nonsense, very very few of us have cars like that) or they're afraid they may not make it back home because their cars are not RELIABLE. Again let me say it, it's all about making our cars more reliable. Dave H is changing all that. For the last damn time if you don't believe in the kit THEN DON'T BUY THE KIT. Let it go.

Fiar enough Steve but as I said in the very begining, the kit was of great interest to me. However, I don't make commitments like this without good reason. People saying "it works" without supporting evidence does not sell me. I think the discussion has been good and can do without the insults.

TMAN....calm down...I know with all of your driving....your hemroids might be flaring up.

FACT is...you didn't install your kit. Someone else did. Who knows if your O2 sensors weren't just wired incorrectly. Any fix of a problem....by definition....will get you reliability. Your car was broken before....now it's fixed. AMAZING how that happens!

Ketel IS fixing his own car. I hope his goal is that his car runs without a CEL. I, nor anyone else, wants him to go through all of this to find his car no better off.

In the meantime, others may be better served by doing the proper trouble shooting and using Tin connectors on their ecu connections from here on out.

Did you need data on Tucks medicated pads or Prep H?

That's because you and the other 3 stooges are insulting everyone here in a tight nit Ferrari community with constant stupidity. I wonder when you guys are going to learn that you are alienating yourselves from the very people that can help you when you need them? Do you guys ever learn to leave things alone? I actually wouldn't give a flying F if my 355 vaporized itself in 25 years because of the kit because Im enjoying it now. I didn't buy it to look at it in the garage and tell everyone that I own a Ferrari. Not many Ferraris have troubles when the keys are on the hook. You together with the other 3 stooges hardly have a thousand posts on here in a combined 30 years of membership and your trying to tell people that have been there, done that, that they don't know what the hell they are talking about. Have you or any of the 3 stooges ever been to Dave Helms place and seen what he does there? He has done more work and research into these cars then you can ever dream of. Im going to drop in and see him in 4 weeks simple because. You guys should learn to STFU at the right time.
Lets hope when Ketel has completed his installation of the kit that this thread is locked up. We will then see where the trolls pop up next.

I've not made a single insulting post in this thread. Electrical connections are electrical connections, does not matter if they are on a Ferrari or an electric oven. People here have posted some very, very useful, factual data that you choose to ignore.

I place much more respect on those folks then people like you that insult people becuase you can't post anything with technical merit.

I could call you a lot of names, none which I'm doing.

Thanks for the offer Tim but not yet. OK let me approach this from a different angle and ask anyone and everyone who reads this to please post your definition of a "reliable Ferrari". Please be specific. You know my definition, what's yours because in the past that phrase has been laughable nothing more than an oxymoron. But for me and many others it no longer holds true...because of Dave H.

I disagree; this thread should be left open and maybe even made into a sticky. It has a ton of info such as the o2 sensor troubleshooting link provided by John; a great read and gives owners the standards they should expect from a professional.

Potential gck customers can read the anecdotal testimony vs. the technical information and decide for themselves if the gck is for them. As stressed before, having a proper crimp is probably the most important part of this whole process and I would advise those who chose to proceed with the kit purchase a better crimper than what is in the kit.

I’m also perplexed by the open hostility and name-calling in this thread. Everything I have posted has been factual and so far undisputed. If you have contrary data, please post it. My mind is open and more information, pro or con is always good.

Our cars with the kit in them run great which means better than before the kits were installed but you just keep beating and beating and beating your tin on tin ect ect ect drum. Do you not see that we don't give a rats arse anymore? It just amazes me that you stooges have been members here for 9 to 10 years, have very few posts over all that time and yet the 3 of you have far out posted your average just to pull this kit down. I makes us all wonder what your objectives really are. You yourself have made only 141 posts in 10 years and 40 of them are all on this thread. Your other stooge friends have similar stats. Please tell us why. You also put down Daves Silicon hoses in another thread. This is not just coincidence buddy.

You fail to see the point once again....

It's been said over and over that new connections may be the source of the fix and gold may have just come along for the ride.

The objectives / agenda is simple: understanding the root cause of the problem and correcting the problem with the best technical solution.

If DH told you that your car would run better if you had daily sex with monkeys, would you do it? (Dave, this is not directled to you)

Now, I guess I have now made an insulting post but apparently this is the only way you know how to communicate...

I can only speak for myself...but I have worked on my 308qv since 97 and picked up the 512tr 2 years ago. I wanted to learn about the ECU based ferraris and their issues.

I have read ALL of the posts on the GCK, year after year...and even thought it sounded like a great option.

However, when I called AMP.....THEY said Hell no. So I was faced with a problem. Do I listen to all of you here that say that your car is magically transformed.....or do I listen to the engineering team that makes the connectors.

When I posted this I was leaning towards the GCK. However, I was amazed at the PROOF others have been able to offer. As an individual with a chemistry background, I have a fairly good ability to analyze facts from multiple angles. Sadly, your "close nit" network could not offer a single reason to use the GCK. Sure, I understand that after changing your connections, your cars worked better. However, I can not see a reason to do this at the ECU. And not one of you has said...."Gold is better at the ECU because it works better for lower voltage, even if the dissimilar metals corrode and destroy the ECU." Sadly, your group could not come up with a damn thing. You also don't even acknowledge that these are just generic junior power timer crimps that are .28 cents. How is any of this helping your brotherhood? what a sham.

You and your stooges let me down by demonstrating what you do not understand. In fact, most of your spit in the face of all logic and evidence to the contrary. Your posts mostly reek of a blind loyalty to the GCK. Most of you did not even install the kit your selves.

And Gerry, I was almost following that your car too was magically transformed until I reread your posts. You have modified ECUs and no GCK at your ecu. As to how you even can offer an opinion seems illogical to me. I bet if we remove your ECUs and put it in JOHNKs car, it might run a little differently too.

I pulled my motor on the 308 years ago and went through the entire thing. Pulled the heads, redid the valve seals....did the belts...camed the motor...changed all of the fuel lines...etc. I did everything because no car with 30 year old parts can be called "reliable." I was dreaming that I might race out to CO and race hemroid boy, but I needed to make sure I could make it there. A car is only as reliable as its weakest link.

The 512tr will be no different. So far I have built my own aux electrical box. It cost be $85 in parts and moved my AC and Radiator fans off of the main circuit board. I read here about the problems others had and made my own solution. I could have paid $1500 to your buddy, but these innovations are nothing but things mechanics have been doing for years.
I also back flushed the AC in the car to make it operational again (another fchat problem/solution) Is my car more reliable....well yes it is....and I did it myself.

And I thank people like JOHN K and Steve M for posting facts year after year. That is what I think Fchat is all about. You seem to simply push the business agenda of a non sponsor. Shameful.

Im not pushing the business agenda of anyone. You keep asking for proof....well isn't it enough proof the dozens of care are running much better than ever after the install. No I havnt done my main brains yet, but Ive change every connection around the engine...over 60 of them. Is it my imagination and my 355 challenge car mechanics imagination that my car is running so good? My mechanic knows more about these cars than all 4 or you stooges. He is the only mechanic who can effect recalls or modifications who does not work for Ferrari. He has direct connections to the factorys top officials. If anyone should be providing proof, it is you stooges. Show me a Ferrari where the GCK has screwed up the wiring or functionality of the car? You cant. You cant even give a timeline. So the story is over ....... unless you have an agenda.

    Stooges, did somebody say Stooges?

    Well here I am.

I have held my tongue long enough and now I'm ready to comment.

The people who have bought the kit are happy with their purchase, and claim that their cars "have never run better". They think that they got "good value" for their money because they currently have no check engine issues.

But, where is the verifiable proof? Where are all the emissions tests with the "before gck vs after gck" data? Where are all the before gck dyno charts vs after gck dyno charts. Where are all the before gck fuel consumption tests vs after gck fuel consumption tests. Where is the PROOF that the gck works as people claim?

I had an emissions test problem that was thermostat related, and made a post about it. I provided before and after, old vs new thermostat emissions tests, PROVING that the new thermostat allowed the ecu's to run the engine more efficiently. I also provided before and after data that "new" cats further reduced the tail emissions. Then I have done several performance modifications to my 348. I said the car felt like it performed better. Then I went beyond "just because I say so" and strapped it to the dyno and PROVED it made more power, with the dyno sheets as proof. I also made changes that lost power, again with dyno data as proof.

I have seen lot of proof that gold mated to tin is bad. This verifiable proof has been posted is this thread. Scientific data that came from THE actual manufacture of the very pins we are talking about. All the real, verifiable, data, has said the same thing, Gold mated to Tin is BAD. But no one has posted ANY data proving the gold plated junior power timer pins are better than tin plated junior power timer pins. Not one shred of proof. Not any dyno pulls. Not any emissions test. And for sure not any high level test akin to those performed by the manufacture.

There are manufactures of exhaust, header, and highflow cats for Ferraris that back up their claims of increased power with dyno data proving it. Then some customers who have purchased these units independently dyon'd their cars to verify the power increase.

So it is not unreasonable to expect the same of a kit that many claim improves there car.

    I say PROVE IT!

Let's see a before dyno power pull. Let's see a before emissions test. Let's see the before air fuel ratios. Let's see the before O2, NOX, and CO levels. Let's see the before resistance levels at both ends of the wires. Let's see the logged data from the obd files in the ecus. THEN let's see the after gck data.

Prove the claims or disprove the claims that "your car has never run better".

PROVE IT! Let's see the data.
