I snapped my original key, and went to a lock smith to cut me a new key on a generic fiat key.

meanwhile, I had gone to ferrari for a new OEM key. I could not buy a blank from them, and told me that they would have to order a key from italy, and it would be cut per the VIN. When the keys came back, they did not match! Ferrari told me the lock must have been changed at some point in the cars life, and I am SOL on the keys they cuts for me (Which cost $300/ea and I bought 2!)

Long storry short, can I buy an OEM blank for the 355? Ricambi shows only repros on their site.

Or.... is it possible to have the locks and ignition "re keyed" to fit the keys that were cut for me?

For the price I paid for just 2 keys, I am 3/4 of the way there! ha!

thanks for the heads up. You're right, its not something I'd want to do (especially with a major service bill adding up right now), but good to know its an option.

It depends on the dealer you deal with. My dealer, Ferrari of Silicon Valley, was able to convince the factory to send / sell me a blank F50 key for my 328 because I was not sure if the lock has been changed before. That cost $250.

As for you, you would need to have the ignition lock and the two door locks re-keyed to the ones you just bought. That is a pain and it may be more than it is worth. Just buy a $70 key from Ricambi and have that cut to the old pattern (you saved it, right?) and look around for someone with a blank 355 key.

Here is a thought: Buy the set from Ricambi with the tumblers, replace the set into your car. Take the old set to a locksmith and have it rekeyed to the new keys you bought, then resell the set for $500 to recover some of the money. A little more work.

Yea, I have the old key, along with 3 other "fiat" keys cut to match it.

This was 3~ years ago, and have been keeping an eye out.

I have a spare blank oem key (black w/chrome horse) at home somewhere. Haven't really thought about much I'd want for it... but if you'd like, you could PM or email me with an offer.

Hard to find. I pulled two blank spares out of Germany, but sold one of them and am keeping the other. Jump on one when you find it.

I have plain blank metal keys. I was using them to make carbon fiber keys but gave that up for now. You can buy an ILCO key at any lock shop. If you need one drop me a PM and I'll send you one for the cost of postage.
