Lol
If my wife heard me say that, my face would be the same colour as this 206. You're a brave man putting that in print.
Looking good matthais, I have a question, the panels and body looks straight from the pics , and a lot of time spent to get it straight. I'm curious in the body pics, seemed like the entire car was covered before paint. Is there a reason why it would be before paint ? Was that how the Dino was when you took it apart ? Thanks.
I´m not the painting specialist, but I think it`s a kind of very thin primer put on to smoothen the surface before painting.... to receive the best possible painting result. Not to compensate for surface irregulations... as the body hasn`t any. The colour of the original primer was a bit more beige/yellow....
Thanks, I don't think primer is thick like that to sand. Regardless, I was surprised the Italians still needed to do that after all the body work to get it straight the body panels looked stunning.I would have loved to have seen this process up close. I've been following this from Day one. The finished product is stunning, can't wit to see it when it's all put together ! Congrats on a job well done !
Matthias, 206 looks stunning in that color! Will it be in the spec "as raced at Sebring" with painted on stripes, driving lamps, safety equipment etc or in road trim with removable vinyl stripes/lights/etc? Noticed you kept the headlamp cover brackets. Freeman
Hello Freeman, yes it will be in the spec "as raced at Sebring". But the stripes aren`t painted original, they are stickers... will be the last thing put on... Regards Matthias

Finally you got this picture with Bob Dini. Would be great if somebody could provide a photo with the rear of the car to see the stripes.
Wonderful color, Matthias! As you know, one of my Dinos is painted Blu Sera ("Evening Blue"), and your slightly darker color is Blu Notte ("Night Blue"). A BMW dealer in my area of upstate New York, of German ancestry, once saw my Blu Sera Dino and said: "BMW has a similar color, called 'Nachtblau.'" It's truly a small world, is it not? By the way, I'm assuming that the non-metallic Blu Scuro is the darkest original blue Dino paint color? Fred
yes Fred, Blu Scuro is the darkest, but Blu Notte Met. is as dark too. It just has a very fine Metallizzato effect... difficult to show on pictures, if you don`t have a normal daylight without sun.... It`s definitively darker as Blu Sera Met.
yes, no picture of the rear so far.... I would think the stripes go down all the way in the rear as on the front or as on the rear of the other NART-Dino from LeMans 1972 #02678 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Probably, yes. But I think a photo will surface one day. There must be a photo from the rear somewhere.
I do have 15 pictures from the race now, thanks to your help Francis, but non from the rear of the car.... If anybody will find one, it`s you
This is a great Dino story Matthias, congratulations on the discovery and recovery of this Dino Pictures are icing on the cake!

a new picture of the Nart-Dino 206 GT #00306 emerged! The interesting thing, it was taken at the "Chicago Auto Show 8th until 16th of March 1969", just one week before the race at Sebring, 22nd of March. Thanks to Tonnie and Jack for finding this picture. If anybody knows more people who took pictures at the "Chicago Auto Show " in 1969, please let me know. Matthias you may want to contact Tom Shaughnessy. The image you show has a photo of a very early Daytona in the back which could be the prototype car. Tom was involved in the restoration of this car and has every photo imaginable. If it is the correct car then perhaps he has photos taken from the auto show and in the background you may be able to make out some details of the rear. Good luck with the search.
