I am sure that most people here on FC will find this one revolting. It is a 250 California "inspired" body hand built around a California chassis. The proprtions are all off with a too big boot and a too short and snubby nose. The driveline is all original, but they installed a NARDI wheel and moved all controlls under a panel between the seats. It has a small rear seat for the owners three small daughters. It has, off course a softtop (automatic). The wheels are modern, hugely expensive, Borranis. The build quality, from what I saw, was exquisit. It was its first day out, so the badges was not fitted

And, no, it is not my car....

    I like it too.

It doesn't look right, but I like that it's not trying to fool anyone. It's a true homage.

The wheels need to look more like period Borranis.

I thought so too... But he could not fit the large brake discs behind classic Borranis. Also, he didn't think classic Borranis would keep up with the power of the car...

I also like it; especially the rear view which is very well done. Part of the styling difficulty is the long wheelbase used on modern cars. Makes it more difficult to make a 'tight' design.

It's not just the diameter. The centers have overly obvious 5-bolt hubs and would look much better with 3-eared spinners, even fake ones.

Also missing are the dual exhausts that look so right on all Columbo engined Ferraris.

At least it is a California underneath, and not a 370z or GTR.

It's great that he could meld the lines of the old with the technology of the new.

Kind of reminds me of a 2003 T-Bird.

Maybe move it to Vintage where the experts there will tear it to pieces.

The worse thing I see is the too short bonnet/hood segment.

Car looks good, I wasn't expecting it when I clicked this thread.

I wonder what would have happened if he took this idea to Pininfarina, I wonder what their take on the design would be.

    :D:D

I think the rebodied coachwork captures the spirit of the original California in a complimenting way rather than try to pretend to a copy.

IMO, it's very pretty and works very well from what I see from the photos. The selection of colours is also excellent. It would be very interesting to see the roof up as well as see how the interior, engine compartment and trunk are detailed and finished. Hopefully, those are equally well-executed.

As a one-off derivative I think it's really nice but of course, turning it into multiple copies would not be so good. ;)

Terrible. Looks like he was inspired the corvette based replica rather than the real thing.

Agree. Looks like something Chip Foose would do. Sort of a reto-rod monstracity.

Naw, it was an in-period rebody like the Breadvan was. If it wins races it will be revered. ;)

OP: Is there a top on the car, or was the entire roof mechanism removed? Does the car sound stock?
