ain't that the truth black art more than pure science oftentimes what LOOKS aero isn't.......what works, sometimes just doesn't appear right go figure
A spoiler like that is good for downforce with the relation to the under surface of the spoiler and the Tarmac. If anything the LaF should have good downforce from the air feeding coming out of the front bonnet
Has anyone any idea of the how the LaF recharging batteries from the engine's torque precisely works? In the officiar papers they say that the excess torque is harvested in moments when it is not needed such as in cornering. Is it a function of the steering lock? Does it kick in at any gear? It must be quite sophisticated but a little obscure...
At this point it may only work in theory. From the sounds of things talking to 'in the know' folks in Monterey Ferrari are currently struggling with several aspects of LaFerrari's development. I certainly not expect a Ring time or deliveries soon if even half the stories are true. >8^) ER
The truth, well at least part of the truth is, Ferrari are really having issues with battery life. The batteries are dying or not functioning after a very short period of time. Many, many pages ago I mentioned that Ferrari are still testing batteries and changing things around, the car isn't finished, like I said long ago. Interestingly Ferrari are getting the power out of the batteries they want, "they're just not reliable", that is from a Ferrari engineer.
How cool would it be if they decided to drop the batteries for a LaF that would have 800hp and weigh 150 kgs less..
I heard that one and a few more - some might be old news. Do you know of the issues with crash testing have been resolved as well, and whether it will require any changes to the visual design? The real shame was that the car was indeed in Monterey and Ferrari had a great place they could have displayed it on Sunday in the same spot they unveiled the F12 last year and yet it was nowhere to be found for the public. I know a few who found it earlier in the weekend, but that wasn't what you could call 'easy'. >8^) ER
Some nice photos from Stradman Photography outside the barn when it arrived: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.630768726957628.1073741828.457987770902392&type=1 Knew I should have gone up there... <sigh> >8^) ER
Reminds me of the PowerBook G5. Still, if the problem is with the batteries, they are the most volatile aspect and can be upgraded with time no problems. OTOH I read in past posts that somebody thinks the recharging is connected to the traction control for it to work in corners as suggested. But that would imply it not working with TC off. Not likely IMO. It maybe just takes torque from the inside wheel during cornering?
