I love Mecum auctions because they are the most unpredictable. Nearly all of these cars had records and recent services. Wow, not much love for our marque, with some obvious exceptions:

    2000 360 F1 Blue/tan coupe $57,000 less than 25K miles; Challenge rear, Daytona seats
1999 355 F1 Spider Yellow/black/black $53,500 22K miles; 19” 430 style wheels, yellow gauge faces, Tubi, carbon fiber interior, Brembo brakes.
    1988 328 GTS Red/tan $51,500 12K miles.
    1997 456 Black/tan $44,000 27K miles; automatic.
1998 355 6-speed Spider NART Blue/tan $45,000 25K miles; smog issue so had to sell outside CA.
2003 456M GTA Silver/black $66,000 mileage not stated; concours quality.
1992 512TR Red/tan NOT SOLD at $120,000 mileage not stated.
    1959 Dino 196S Replica Red/black NOT SOLD at $250,000; pretty much factory-correct reproduction 1 of 7 made.
1987 TR Red/tan NOT SOLD at $57,000 mileage not stated; concours quality.
    1984 512BBi Red/tan NOT SOLD at $110,000 over 15K miles.
    1988 TR Red/tan $51,000 37K miles; Tubi, 18” 512TR style wheels.
2001 360 F1 Spider Black/black/black $91,000 4,700 miles; Tubi, Daytona seats, Challenge grill McIntosh audio.
1954 750 Monza Spider Scaglietti Red/black NOT SOLD at $3.25 million; unbelievable car.
1990 F40 Red/red/black $1.325 million almost 500 miles; US car, possible high water mark for this car.
    1988 TR White/crema/tan $50,000 27K miles; one-owner car.
1985 400i Red/tan NOT SOLD at $25,000 mileage unlisted; 17” custom wheels, Corvette drive train, smog issue so cannot be sold in CA.

    Other Sutff:
1967 Maserati Ghibli Spider 1 of 124 NOT SOLD at $195,000.
1952/32 Bella Macchina 5/8 scale race car Red/tan $41,000; for a kiddie car powered by a lawn ower engine?!
1963 Modena from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” Ford parts $230,000; unbelievable!

So if you want to buy a Ferrari, go to a muscle car auction. ;)

That F40 was unbelievable! Although the car hadn't been serviced since 1994 and had be stored since then. I cringed when the super young kid (looked like 16) started reeving the engine to drive it up to the block. Thank goodness a belt didn't go. At any rate, it's just a shame that this car will most likely never see the road, let alone a race track. Nonetheless, a much better car than the Tilly car at RM

Amazing how ferraris are essentially ignored at this event. Sure the f40 traded but the 750 monza would have sold if auctioned at the other houses. The boxer was also an essential no show.

As a boxer owner, I hope never to see another BB of any variant being sold at bj or mecom. They just don't attract the right audience.

Amazing how long it is taking him to unload his own auction company owned inventory 750 Monza that he got reputedly for under 2Mil over a year ago that achieved the same chandelier 3.2 bid as last year. Something must be funky with it other than it being a early car in light of the RM car doing so much better.

So why do they call it a "Chandelier bid"? I get the meaning but what is the derivation of the term? Wouldn't "Shill" or "Shell" bid mean the same thing?
