Hello, Could someone from the Netherlands tell me what paperwork is supposed to accompany an NL car (vintage) being exported to the USA? I know the export authorization document (EAD) is one of them. Is the kentekenbewijs supposed to stay with the car as well? I'm trying to identify what document serves as the "property title / certificate" as it crosses borders. Thanks very much friends. -Hans
You have to pass dutch customs with the paperwork, they will withdraw the dutch licence and provide you with the papaerwork you will need . The shipping company that will transport the car will probably also know.
You could also contact Export dienstverlening voor voertuigen, Auto export | VWE they are experts in vehicle export documents. Also in English: http://www.vwe-netherlands.com/Export.aspx
The owner needs to go to the RDW (DOT equivalent) and deregister the car there. The "kentekenbewijs" will be stamped "export" or in Dutch: UITVOER, (see pic 1 - please note that this is an old registration document, a classic car may have a different looking one if the car was important more recently). He keeps one page of the 3 page paperwork (the green one, as shown here for my 1966 330GTC that I sold last May), the rest should go with the car. It is a very simple process.
