Congratulations! What a beauty. I think you got lucky with the tires- they are really the best out there.

Thanks guys for all your supportive comments. For those who don't know it is my first F car. So far enjoying the positive attention it gets. There is some pleasure in seeing the smiles on other's faces.

My salesperson said don't worry about break in. These engines don't need it.

No answer to the front plate dilemma. None of the options look good. But absolutely required here.

I got the windows tinted at the dealer prior to delivery.

Yeah, michelins were a fluke. I have read on Fchat in a thread or two, that they are better, but wonder how the difference would be noticeable in urban driving ( non-track use).

Beautiful. Congrats. Now you just need a plate with a low number;). Like 7 or 5. I am sure they are taken. Lol

    Justin is that you? ;)

As to break in, yes, its true, they run the engines on a bench and they are already basically broken in. But the tires aren't. And neither is the most important part of the equation: you. So take your time to get to know it and yeah you don't have to really baby it, but work up to what it can do. Better for you and the tires and the brakes etc. I suggest changing all fluids ~1000 miles. Cheap insurance and forces someone who (should) knows what they are doing to have a look at the vehicle.

What a great car. Congratulations again.

In presenting tire options to me when I ordered my car, the dealer put it this way. I don't know if it really is this clear cut, but he certainly made my choice easy.

He explained that Michelin worked with Ferrari to design a tire for the 458. In contrast, Pirelli sells a tire that fits the 458.

Sort of reminds me of Yokohama and the first generation NSX.

IMHO you will feel the difference especially in non track driving because the Pirellis don't really achieve their potential until they are hot. The Michelins need to be warmed up but they are faster to heat up. They wear faster, but to my senses they feel like they are gripping the road more and have a better ride quality.
