If Lotus are going to have a big dip in performance next year as many suspect he will jump to whatever team will A. Pay him and B. give a competitive car.
+1 There was some story earlier this season about him still not having been paid by Lotus. While this might have gotten settled by now, I'm sure the pay at Ferrari is higher and more secure. Because it is the best available seat at this point. Money was never the issue with Ferrari. And why not have a 2nd solid driver, that way both of them can deliver good testing feedback. Plus Alonso gets a wingman who can actually steal points from the competition. I bet there is a clause in Kimi's contract limiting the number of public appearances.
if kimi indeed goes back to ferrari he should be given an equal change to win the WDC. Like I believe it would be at red bull. i've another theory what about rosberg to replace massa at ferrari and kimi teammate of lewis? I really think mercedes would suit kimi. I think it would suit him more then ferrari.
This would be incredible. Kimi at mercedes(or even back at mclaren) would probably suit him best. If he does come to ferrari im sure alonso will be looking to leave very soon. His pride wont stand for another great driver alongside him.
another theory Button to ferrari and kimi back to mclaren? Jenson is also 3 years at mclaren and not a big succes.
Joke of the year ... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ... how can you honestly believe RB would play fair? ... hahaha Thanks for the laugh. Pete
McLaren is the team that is missing a competitive driver, but they are lost but have the funds. If the designer at Lotus AND Kimi moved to McLaren that would be a good move. Pete
https://twitter.com/alo_oficial I don't like riddles. Is Alonso insulted that Ferrari is getting Kimi, despite Alonso not approving him? That's a stupid theory. Kimi would be better of at a broke Lotus currently. Mclaren is a team that'll always be up there but I fear it's going to be dark times (much like Ferrari in the 80s and 90s).
If I'm LdM I sign Kimi ASAP. LdM has one job to do-make Ferrari a winner. As long as FA n Kimi don't crash into each other and can take points away from the competition I for one don't care who wins the wdc and we all know LdM loves those wcc!!
My only problem is the number of time Luca publicly hinted at Kimi...that´s the reason why i found it hard to believe...but i would love it...i they get kimi they can fire the other 2 drivers, nobody needs them...massa at least helped Ferrari to win 3 championships and was robbed of anothe rone, Alonso achieved nothind...it´s time for both to go..bring the Kimster and put KOBi, Hulk or Jules on the other seat....
Pete Windsor is talking about a swap, Alonso to Lotus and Kimi to Ferrari. Either it's a masterpiece of imagination or then there could be some truth in it? It would be too funny though, so I'm laughing for as long as it's possible
Yep, that's what I have read also (but these are rumors...): Raikkonen not off to Red Bull confirms manager Rgds
And, well...some "amenities and comments" (ahem..) from "the rat": Alonso would only bring trouble at Red Bull, and Ferrari should do their best to hire Kimi back. Alonso would bring trouble to Red Bull - Lauda Rgds
A *very* long shot there IMO..... Replacing young Sergio? Or JB? I have the (possibly mistaken ) impression that Ron wouldn't allow him anywhere near his factory. Cheers, Ian
I doubt it. I don't think Papa Ron and Kimi got on well (complete polar opposites those 2!). Unless the law around Mclaren town has laxed somewhat since Ronnie left I can't see this switch happening. They don't pay especially well (I believe JB is around the 6m base mark?) and the team is in turmoil currently. Much better of at Lotus then. Robertson has said he's pretty sure Kimi will stay in F1 next year as he has several options. I hope he's going to Ferrari or stay with Lotus.
Staying at Lotus seems the obvious and easy decision for Kimi. However, his manager said negotiations with Red Bull ended some time ago (which would have allowed plenty of time to negotiate with Ferrari) and Kimi said his decision might seem "stupid" to some people. I don't think staying at Lotus or going to RB would necessarily be described as "stupid," but I imagine a lot of pundits would say that of a return to Ferrari. I suppose we will find out at Monza when Ferrari makes their announcement. I am perfectly happy for Kimi to stay at Lotus but must admit the Ferrari idea is intriguing.
Eddie jordan just said kimi wants to go back to ferrari. Announcement expected at the italian gp. Eddie called schumachers return to mercedes so its not a totally unreliable source
Great! We're getting more and more pointers all going in the same direction. I can't wait for this dream team! Has been about 15 years since the last time I was able to cheer for both Ferrari drivers.
I could see Kimi going back to Ferrari if Alonso was not there, but no way I can see Kimi being second fiddle to anyone. At Ferrari, no way Alonso would accept anyone being either his equal or #1. Lotus it is for Kimi in 2014 since the Red Bull seat is now no longer available.
While I agree it's unlikely to happen, I don't think either of 'em; 1 - Can make that call. 2 - Have anything in their contracts about "status". [Rubens said many times there was never anything in his contract specifying #2 status - The Schu was simply quicker. ] 3 - Actually give a damn - They'll certainly push each other...... Would *love* to see it happen though! I've said before, I still think Kimi is as quick as anyone if he likes the car. And we know Freds damn quick. Would be awesome - Neither of 'em are afraid of anyone..... Cheers, Ian
