"Aerodynamic requirements guided the work of the Ferrari Styling Centre, which led the project in cooperation with Pininfarina, to sculpt the cars forms to ensure they were more performance-oriented than ever. The most notable features in this sense are the front and rear movable aerodynamics which balance downforce and cut drag, thus helping make the 458 Speciale the most aerodynamically efficient range production car in Ferrari history (E Index of 1.5)" Pininfarina involved!
458 S 1,23,5 with Michelin sport cup 2 (best semislick tire in the world right now) F12 1,23 with normal tire 430 scuderia 1,25 corsa semislick 599 GTB 1,26,5 with normal tire 599 gto 1,24 michelin super sport /normal tire The question now is, is the speciale a real speciale or more a markting gag ?
Oh my! Thanks for pointing that out, only adds to the disappointment. Will reserve final judgment when I see this thing in person. The more I look at it, the more it feels like some aftermarket tuner like Hamann or Mansory got their grimy hands on it.
+458 These winglets will be a nightmare to clean, keep clean and protect from damage. The car will be harder to clean with all those crevices and angles. Otherwise the car looks good on the outside IMVHO. Except lose the boy racer stripe. Inside the knee bolster with the dent looks odd. I can just see every new passenger saying: What's THAT for?
Not overly impressed with the looks. I'm sure the performance will be there but not really a fan of the wheels (maybe if they were darker like the Scud they'd look better) and the stripe doesn't seem to suit the 458 - also what's up with the winglets?
I would say that the Pirelli Corsa Trofeo is the best semi. Also 1.5 sec faster than the Italia/Scud is no small feat!
I own a 458 and truly like the car. I look at this car and see nothing more aesthetically pleasing. As with prior challenges/scudaria's, the car removes creature comforts, and adds power, but at the end of the day, is not a dd nor a car that (imo) "competes" with either of the other 458's. As someone joked about the "two bumps" where the glove compartment is located, if they have been added for anything more than to accomodate a man's projectile or to suppress a woman's cup size (low sitting woman), they simply detract from the "flow" of the facia and interior in general. As is the case with a race car, looks are secondary and give way to "innovations". Therefore, for those who want to track a car, the car has added features that will enhance its performance, but add a passenger and you defeat the entire purpose. Lacking a/c and other creature comforts (noise deadening etc.), any passenger would have to be a mascohist to stay seated for an extended period. Not a car for the street imo. Best
Meh. I don't think it's very good looking. Great to drive, I'm sure, but I'd just wait for the 458 replacement which will be just as fast, better looking, and have all the amenities.
I like the way Ferrari got rid of the winglettes, Narrowed the light cluster, Adder air reliefs at the front wheel Steering vanes on the nose, and a barge board just in front of the rear wheels, And the spoiler in the rear. Not so fond of the front bonnet.
Agreed - the F458 Italia will go down as one of the best sports car designs in history. The 458S, LaFerrari, and F12 designs go backwards with "busyness" and "over detailed" IMO
The picture of the interior has a button for air conditioning. OTOH, I don't see controls for a radio.
I like the nose without the winglettes, The new front light cluster, The air extractor in front of the front wheels, The turning vanes at the front, the barge boards at the rear, The turned up spoiler at the rear. I don't like the job they did on the bonnet, And I don't like the stripped out interior. Overall 7/10. Would I buy one, no probably not.
