Just finished putting a Blaupunkt San Francisco head unit in my 2007 F430. I'll try to post installed pictures shortly. I chose the Blaupunkt for several reasons:

    1. Has more of a factory look with the two dials on the face, yet gives the iPod functionality that I was looking for (front and rear usb ports) and has a remote control. I didn't want something flashy that would stick out to much.

    2. It uses the European standard wiring harness, so the factory harness from the 430 plugged directly into the new radio. I know it's easy to make an adaptor but this was a nice bonus. The only thing I needed to do with the wiring was to remove the #2 wire from the "A" plug on the harness. If you don't do this the radio is muted as it activates the phone mute function. I actually removed the pin from the radio itself as I don't need to phone mute option.

Definitely sounds much better than the factory Becker unit and IMO looks pretty good in the car.

Sorry for the delay, was out of town and just got a picture of the unit installed. Was very inexpensive - I think I paid around $130 USD delivered.

How is the sound with stock speakers and is reception better?

To me it sounds much better than the Becker unit using the stock speakers - much clearer and fuller sound. I haven't had much drive time though since I installed it. Not sure I can comment on the reception quality since I usually don't listen to the radio...

Actually it was a coincidence and I was laughing when I saw the photo as I was posting it yesterday.

Thanks to you I'm going with this same head unit. I have an android phone. I assume I can connect it as well as an Iphone.

I'm going to replace the door speakers and add and amp. Mike is building an enclosure as we speak. I will give a report when all is installed in a few weeks.

what door speakers and amp are you going with? Any mods need to be done to make them fit with stock grills?

Android should be no problem (check blaupunkt web site?). Head unit has both front and rear USB ports - you just use your own sync cable.

Don't you need a new wiring harness, or are mostly plug and play.

I read here that Blaupunkt is a direct connect.

I'm going to use an Arc amp, not sure of model yet. Depending on size , it will fit under dash. I really don't want it in the trunk.

Boston Acoustics or Polk speakers were recommended by Mike in CA. I will let you know. Focal are very popular also but more expensive.

No mods necessary to replace door speakers.

Are all blaupunkt the same hook up. What made you go with that model. Just looking for better sound with our ripping out all the wires

Same reason as OP . I like the simple sleek look of this one. I really don't want to change the factory unit but it is a piece of crap and so difficult to use.

I picked the San Francisco model based on the features and appearance I was looking for and the fact that it was a direct hook up to the factory harness without an adaptor. Certainly any DIN size unit from about any stereo manufacturer will fit and hook up with a relatively simple wiring adaptor. I wanted something with 2 knobs and not too flashy which limited me a bit...

As far as I can tell all the Blaupunkt models use the same wiring connectors as they conform to the ISO standard that is in place in Europe. I didn't want Bluetooth as I prefer to ignore my phone when enjoying my drive, but the Toronto 420 BT adds Bluetooth connectivity for just a little more $$.

I looked in the manual today and didn't see anything about Android devices, so I would definitely go tot he Blaupunkt website to check on that - all that was mentioned were iPods.

Just installed the Toronto. Recognizes my iPhone 5 on Bluetooth and via the front USB. Plays my spotify nicely. Should quality on Bluetooth not spectacular, and front USB sounds great. I would say that my car with the OEM amp and sub, sounds great... Somewhat stock appearance, but it lights up with some reds and blues. I'll take that over that junk confusing OEM head unit.

Install was a breeze, but no documentation on how. Plugs need no harness. And the aftermarket housing just needs its tabs opened up and the unit slides right in.
