i like the styling - more angular and aggressive which is appropriate in a track-focused car. However the only thing that interests me is how it drives - whether the weight reduction, power increase and handling improvements result in a better driving experience than the Italia. What I am looking for is a more raw, visceral and exciting package as was achieved with the Scud. If Ferrari is successful in achieving this, I'll get one.
Some of these figures are incorrect. For the purposes of comparison you need to quote factory figures. For example, CS is 1:28 (not 1:26.50). Scud is missing from the list and did a 1:25 lap.
How many of them will be made ? Will it dampen the appetite for those who are considering ordering 458 Italia now ? In other words , would you still consider 458 Italia or Even spider knowing the Speciale is forthcoming . I understand that the price difference won't be that great given many things ( carbons ,racing seats , alcantara , wheels .........)are standard options in Speciale . The car price is higher of course but one may save money on options !
The shape and style of the 458 is difficult to beat and improve upon ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't believe the lap times for the Scuderia are correct at 1:26.5...the same lap time as the Stradale with 100 less HP?
Ask and you shall receive! here it is ... with a little of scotch, but she is! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
She's in black without stripes and whit beautiful dark wheels More and more i think that is perfect, elegant, bad, aggressive...
Glad the new 458S has so many whiny haters, I move to the front of the line. The 458S makes the Italia look soft.
to each his own.... i for one love my italia all the more in lieu of this most recent model unveiling!
I really enjoyed the rear and the performance figures, can you imagine more than 1 second faster than a 991 Turbo S from 0-200kph? The front and the stripe on the other hand not quite sure, playing in the photoshop a little I came with this Image Unavailable, Please Login
My humble take on Ferrari over the past 10 years are so is that they alternate between styles. The 360 was pure curvy sexy Italian perfection. The 430 was so much more aggressive and meaner to the eye while maintaining a very similar line. The 458 seemed to revert back to the 360 style of curves and sex. As one person already stated, when you try to combine two totally different styles, it just sort of comes out... odd... I guess. From a purely visual perspective, this looks more like an aftermarket tuner car than a factory car. It just looks like parts were added on. The Scud looked like an evolution of the 430, this does not in my opinon. There's something about the 458 that has yet to grow on me... some styling cues that are really close, but somehow seem confused and miss for me. I'm wondering if the next model will be a greater departure from this style or if it will be more of an evolution of the theme.
Fiorano times Speciale vs 458 -1,5 sec Scuderia vs F430 -2,0 sec Stradale vs Modena -3,5 sec 1,5 sec has nothing to do with the car, only the tires. 90 kg´s and some extra hp should help abit more ? Can´t wait until AMS test on the ring.
I am happy that finally Ferrari have realized that bad versions of their V8 is better the prancing horse centered and well-sized and not those ridiculous horses mounted on small posts, or caught on the grids ... I think it's perfect and balanced the version proposed by Ferrari's rear. If they have chosen so will mean that turns out to be pleasing to the eye and appears slim and elegant
I am sure you are aware of the Law of the Diminishing Returns. If you go even higher, in F1 racing for example, you will notice advancements of tenths of seconds only. The higher you go, the more rarified the air gets so to speak and the more difficult it is to become better and faster. The basic 360, magnificent as it was, had a lot of headroom to get quicker. The 458 on the other hand was extremely advanced to begin with, thus making it better was much harder.
That is a 16M v a 360 CS The Scud coupe would be faster.Plus I'm just posting this from fastestlap.com
Or they got a bit lazy... CS was a serious rebuild, Scud and Speciale not that much. Strange those laws does not apply to weight. CS dry weight 1180 kg´s-110 kgs from 360. Speciale 1280 kgs -90 kg´s from 458. F1 has changed so much every year in regulations so no comparison is valid anyway. But tbh, Fiorano times is not that trustworty anyway, newer model is always faster. Waiting for automotor and sports test =)
