I regard that the Speciale has the most changes from the standard car compared to its predecessors. Active aero, more power, better electronics. The CS didn't have that many changes.

The CS had a lot of internal changes. The engine for example, was basically a blueprinted 360 engine.

Keep in mind the CS exists solely to homologate a race car. :):)

That said I think the 458S had quite a bit done to it.

having watched sports car prices over the decades my conclusion:

costs rise exponentially to get hp gain in a sports car.

I didnt buy in yet. Eye on Scuderia. I think coming from the GTR and other high TQ cars spoiled my F car expectations. The F430 seemed so average to drive, I know that sounds odd.

IMO, the standard 458 had a weak 'smiling' lower front facia. If you superimpose the new aggressive S facia onto the standard 458 and retain the standard bonnet, you have what the 458 should have been originally. Don't mess with the sides, wheels nor the beautiful standard rear end. F have messed the rear up - not to mention the side winglets and new effeminate wheels. I also prefer the flowing lines of the coupe to the spider.

In terms of performance improvement of 1.5 secs per lap, nearly all that must be attributable to the R+ tyres. Would have thought that -90kgs, +35 hp and trick yaw control would have contributed more. Not even taking into account different spring/shock rates, lower ride height, ,more aggressive camber settings etc, bigger brakes and wider tyre sizes(I presume)

This is the only Ferrari I can think of that will actually look better with a front license plate.

That squared off notch on the front doesn't work at all....

The rear would have looked much better with the grille going all the way across without the awkward part in the center... and the center part should swoop down to the bottom in red like the read of the F12.

And the horrific gaudy bling horse on the front doesnt help either. What the heck was Ferrari or Pin thinking with this whole model?

That's because the Gallardo is a modern day Countach. :)

I still like the front. I don't think the rear is anything exciting. But, I can see the strong race car influence in what they've done here. It's not a styling exercise. It's a performance exercise.

The Gallardo isn't outrageous and tacky enough in my opinion. It is virtually an invisible car. You'd have to compare it with something more tacky and juvenile-appealing like the Enzo.

Ripe time for McLaren to swoop in with a stunner...the Mac isnt much to look at either, but it does outperform.

I think Ferrari should have done more with this car.

More power, maybe active aero or even KERS because its not special enough.
