They're pretty wicked and I don't believe I have seen them before. Does anyone know where these wheels can be bought and what would be the offset/diameters?

I got this pic out of an eBay a while ago and think the car looks really aggressive and better than the stock rollers... Notice the side mirrors - they look as if they're from a Porsche 964/993.

Anyone recognize this car or know the history?

Look like old german Musketier wheels from the 1990ies. These were fitted on Maseratis by this tuning company.

The wheels and the car look similar to what is shown in the video posted last night (20 August 2013) about a noise coming from the engine bay: IMG 0552 - YouTube

Great catch and 99% likely it is the same car. Since Santos is in the NY area, I wonder where the car is now.

Correction, the 412 in the picture above doesn't have the rectangular front marker lights of the car in the video. Since everything else is the same, the picture looks as though it was taken in Florida and the car in the video has Florida plates, it could be the same car but with the earlier picture taken a long time ago before the markers were added for federalization.

Oh, and the outside mirror is black on the video and silver in the picture.

Lastly, that clacking is really noisy but maybe that is amplified by the weird acoustics in a garage and an iPhone microphone.

Yeah, they are 2 different cars. The picture has all the makings of a 412 'except' no rear valance with fog lights (notice that you can see the Ansa tips), so I question whether it's a 412 or not. The FL car is a 412, take note of the rear fogs below the bumper. A gentleman mentions about the belt snapping sound & that it takes 12 years to go away after it warms up. No big deal  I think they should have considered shooting the vid after warm-up but I guess they didn't want to keel over from CO poisoning :D

Here's a 3rd car, a vid by him with CT tags, it's the carb'd version with the stock 15" wheels.

Personally, I don't think anything beats the TRX wheel except for maybe a Borrani
I feel that's why Ferrari stuck with it on the 412, the 'supposed' best variant of all.

This forum allows for everyone to share their thoughts, likes and preferences... I am looking to replace the current rolling stock and whereas the easiest option is to go onto 16's, I am already exploring tasteful options which I will address in another thread.

    That carbed car was beautiful.

    Recalcitrant transmission, though.

That's all I was doing...didn't want to get any feathers ruffled :(
Trutlands usually has repro 308QV wheels in 16" if you want to stay with the traditional starfish, but certainly there are specialty wheel co's./shops out there that'll do just about anything you want.

Yeah, the owner seemed to have a deftness in his gear changes that I couldn't match. I always went 2-5. Couldn't find 3 and got a bit of grinding. Clutch was good but that box worried me.

Man the sound of that intake.... wow!

I'm pretty sure that I own the carb car in the video. I wonder when that was shot? Looks like it was with the po in CT. The car had trx metric tires when I bought it with a 15" spare. The tail lights were also reversed like that in lieu of a rear fender reflector/ running light.

GT Jones if you have questions I'm happy to answer them. If you got that car good going. Nice buy.

Just my opinion, Its your car after all!
Unfortunately there are not so many of these cars left and the more that are 'changed' the less true examples there will be.
Your impression of tasteful is it really those 'cheap custom car look' add ons surely not? What a shame.

My impression of tasteful is being able to select and choose anything I like, since I pay my own bills. To me, a shame is to have opinionated and especially condescending, ignorant individuals who feel glorified and/or justified in believing that their opinion is far better than anyone else's... In response to your message, what does define "cheap custom car look?" Oh wait, never mind because I don't care.

For me to inquire about a set of wheels really irks you that much that you must, without knowing anything else, assume that your preferences are somehow the only ones any other owner is allowed to have? What, actually, consists of customizing a car yet not make it look cheap? Buying a keychain that's not from the dealer? Oh wait, never mind because I don't care.

My .02 cents and quote for the day - "People really ought to think before they speak and/or write something - they will go farther in life." I suggest you follow this more often.

You should not be surprized that you will get comments or opinions that disagree on a forum.

These are very special cars and there are the purists amongst us and I guess I am one of the wanna be purists! I just happen to believe that the original pininfarina designed wheels represent a very important part of the car and to take that away seems to take part of the character away.

I think it is obvious that you are in an entirely different place than purist! It appears that you are intent on 'tastefully improving' pininfarinas masterpiece. Of course I am going to object these cars are important and special.

I think it's cool to be a purist but yes, you are most certainly correct indeed that I am not one of them!

Now, anyone seen a 400 series car with BB 512 wheels? Does someone make a set in similar size and/or dimensions?

I believe your response might have been better served had it been the one you mentioned to me: "This forum allows for everyone to share their thoughts, likes and preference"
Like you said, it is your car...& it is your right to do as you wish. & I think the younger generation who weren't born when the 365 GT4 was introduced would side with the multi-piece modular wheels as fitting for the GT's,...that's what's cool, that's what's in, & that's what they're used to.
Do understand that there are a # of purists (or should I say traditionalists) in this section of Fchat who believe that Battista Farina's designs are some of
'the best' the world had to offer back in the day. We can be an emotional bunch, these cars evoke emotion.

    Yes :D
The front wheels of the BB are the exact same wheel as all 4 on the 400!

    1) I don't recall seeing many 400 series with a staggered set of wheels, and the rears off the BB 512 have a nice step lip;
    2) I am curious to see how much "meat" could fit in the wheel wells of the car, given its size; and
    3) to the extent its feasible, I would like to know if someone sells wheels similar to those off the BB, as it'd be interesting to see what a 400 series looks like with a more muscular stance using an aggressive OEM set of wheels (out in the rears)...

When fitting up some new 16" superformance wheels I played round with some spacers in the shop and found that you couldn't push the wheel/tire out too much more without touching the fender as the suspension compressed. You could easily get another inch in rim width to the inside though. Good luck finding performance 16" tires but I bet a 265mm tire on a custom 17 or 18x 9 rim would fit

I am revisiting this post as I am hopeful that someone out there, purists excluded, can shed some more light into the wheels shown on the silver car. They are not HRE 545's, I've reached out to the people at Musketier (who now seem to oy focus on small hatchbacks per google search), and don't have anything definitive.

If someone in this forum can point me to a reliable source of wheels (already searched and not interested in OEM replicas), I would most certainly appreciate it. I did touch base with HRE who quoted me over $6K for vintage 505's, tires excluded but that's a decent paint job!

The ones on the video are essentially 5 stars whereas the ones in the silver picture are 5 spoke, so the design is different (and the spokes look much better IMHO)...
