More money yes, more competitive drive is debatable though judging from qualifying and recent race finishes.

Lotus will be toast next year, they're out of cash. Ferrari will beat them easily.

Come on, Andreas! You can do better than that At least two great guys missing from your list:
    - Jacky Ickx: 1968, then left for Brabham in 1969, came back in 1970
    - Gianclaudio "Clay" Regazzoni (how come you can forget Clay, a Swiss, at that!): 1970, 1971, 1972; left for BRM in 1973; came back for 1974, 1975, 1976.

One that almost did come back but had a change of heart (and was vetoed by some sponsor also?)
Chris Amon: 1967, 1968, 1969; left for March, then Matra, but always remained on very good terms with Enzo Ferrari, who asked him back during the "great debacle" of 1973. Amon was tempted but has already given his word to partners for his own team, and it has also been said that he was vetoed by some sponsor.

    ?

Lotus struggled to pay raikkonen last year. Constant rumours this year of Lotus unable to pay him, or paying him late. No major sponsors and for the 2nd time running trying to keep up with the Red Bull/Ferrari/Mercedes money train. That's taking it's toll...Unfortunately.

I'd love for Kimi to be a WDC with Lotus but I seriously doubt it'll happen.

If James Allison goes to Ferrari then things look good for Ferrari. Personally if they painted the current Lotus in Ferrari colours, Scuderia Ferrari would have a better to race.

I will still be surprised if we have an Alonso and Kimi partnership at any team, but I can see Kimi following James.

James Allen has gone back to Ferrari (he worked there before between 2000 and 2005...).

Oops, how could I forget The Indestructible? My bad. At least shows that I did answer from (fleeting) memory. The early seventies had so many drivers and changes, anyway thanks for setting the record straight.

I actually thought they were going to be toast by now this season. They have done well so far but they are giving up the ghost now.

Mercedes v Ferrari with both teams having the best driver line up too? (If ferrari get Kimi). Chills.

If Kimi + Fernando, or Fernando + Kimi is the pairing for next year at the Scuderia, well so be it.
As we say in french "ne boudons pas notre plaisir" (more or less "do not sulk our pleasure") that will be interesting to watch, to say the least.
But I still fail to see the logic of this all....better a young gun in the second car.

This sounds very feasible and as I have always said/predicted Vettel will eventually be in a Ferrari.

It's hard to find anyone who has not always predicted that he'll end up there someday. Including himself, if I'm not mistaken :)

I'm happy for DR, but do not want to see Kimi back at Ferrari. That experiment failed once when he was top dog, why would it be any more successful with him playing second fiddle?

The analogy 'second fiddle' has always confused me. Racing is about winning and with multiple WDC champions consensus say's the teams chances are more likely to achieve a title whether it be a WDC or WCC. I think having two or more than capable drivers only brings more success and F1 is not a Prom battle although F1 teams seem to think it is. I for one would want a challenger/team mate who makes me step up my game so I do not become complacent.
