That's gotta be fun....tearing things apart, hoping to find unobtanium parts from 934's, 935's!

There has got to be a few modded turbo Porsche's out there with some special parts attached. People been modding old 911's and 930's since forever.

Looks like an awesome project....MORE PICTURES PLEASE!! :)

I think the boost gauge requires a key???? But the needles look out of place, so i think it has to be rebuilt?

Took some pics of the car.

Anybody ever seen rolled metal vents in the rear quarter? I thought conversions used plastic and real M505 cars had wood and later, metal vents?

I think you can order the telltale key from NHS for something like $5. I hope the boost gauge didn't hit 2bar+!

We are not sure it even works, Joe Frazar drove the car with me in it 1 time to check things out. We did not see either boost gauge move, but the car takes off like a cartoon rocket under boost. Going to fix all the little things and then repaint the car. The paint has crazed and shrunk in places, indicating its an older paint job. So someone built this car 15-20 years ago. (?????) Paint is lacquer, which no one uses anymore.

Pull the gauge and see if it the vacuum hose is attached to the brake booster.

    Michael-

Looks like your slant kit is similar to what's on mine- Targa SC Body with VERY well done slant kit and Cabriolet mechanism from an 86 Carrera. 8s front and 11s rear- factory 930S airdam and rear wing- I'm in the process right now of replacing the entire interior with tan leather and champagne carpet- new Haartz top- rebuilding tranny and a few other things.

Mine's unusual in that it has a 1977 930 Motor with intercooler added and short bell housing 4 speed tranny.

Not pushing anywhere near the HP yours is but ferociously fast once the boost comes on.

Sweeeet ! My car needs sorting. Rennsport assured me it makes at least mid 550 HP at the wheels with the 3.5 stroker kit, not that it matters, as of now I am afraid of the car :)

Mine needs sorting, speed testing, on a track, will come later.

I know.... I thought this car was a 74, but when I went to get rid of the carbon fiber "zug" rear panel, the rear panel is all 1989 sheet metal, with all the factory hardware and welds.

Weird...... Either way, we like the car, going to give it love, money and elbow grease and fix her up. :) My 328 does not know about the 930 yet .....

The orange needle on the boost gauge is the tell tale, it is pushed to the max boost level by the red needle and stays there until reset with a special little key. Dig around behind it and see if they ever hooked up the vacuum to get it working.

The three side 'strakes', in front of the rear wheels, were black painted balsa wood on the original cars.

Also, a few cars had very thin fiberglass front hoods that had balsa wood ribs glued to the underside to stiffen them up a little.

Got my car apart to fix all the ills- With these "modded" cars you get a lot of 80s alarm/stereo/bag phone wiring... which needs to go, and my car had some spot paint repairs and cracked fiberglass- Pulled everything off to be sanded back to metal and then we'll reshoot the whole car and install the new interior.

doing everything over and making sure it looks right...

They were never steel on the factory cars.. only aftermarket.. Most of the kits were produced and sold through Golden Coachworks back in the day.. they even supplied most of the aftermarket supplier who sold them mail order.

Lots of people think they were painted balsa-wood. Some of the very early special wishes cars were but they moved to a composite material soon after.

thecarreaper, Seems like a fun car you should enjoy the boost..

From your pics it looks like you do have a Hargett shifter.. not too difficult to remove. Go with the WEVO, you will like the feel of the shifter much better and you can find the gears!

Your wheels are not Kinesis, they are RH as Ferrari Pete stated..

You should be making some pretty good power, however barely 500 on CIS.. although you can get them to that number but its a stretch. Looks like you've got most all of the right pieces, 3.5 stroker? twin plug, crank fire ignition, B&B or Powerhaus headers, Koklen IC ... any idea of headwork and what Cams? So maybe @ 500

Good Luck with it and have fun!

Thanks. Cams are 964 cams. I have a detailed receipt from Rennsport on the build, the AC and the trans axle. Going to sell the wheels. I don't like them.

We are removing the Hargett shifter and putting in a stock 930 shifter and replacing the bushings. The MOMO wheel is getting repalced with a factory Porsche one. Ugly pedals and other crap are going in the trash can.

What is the bolt pattern you seek on wheels?

you will have no problem selling the RH 3.6 wheels if they are in nice shape. if they need work, my dear friend was the importer and has all the spare parts to restore the wheels. strange that you are not into them a b it as they are very desirable...especially amongst those who love the 3.6 turbo.

Michael, call zuffenhaus and ask for information in the 17" fuchs wheels they sell. I have them on my 930. they are expensive but the quality is top shelf!!!

let me know if you need any help on anything for the car. as always, have fun but be safe!!!

Your bolt pattern would be 5x130. I know of two sets of BBS E50 and E52 wheels here, but they have black centers and are 15". One has the shanked lugs and the other uses regular ball seat lugs. These can be built out to 17", but you need to buy new/used inner and outer barrels. I don't know what they would want for the rims, but I can ask if you are interested. I would say they are perfect candidates as you can have the centers shot gold when you rebuild them.

Thank you , I am going to wait a few weeks on the wheels. We are sorting the car by removing the carbon fiber tape and trashy stickers / fake Ruf stuff. I am going to leave the front and rear Ruf badges on the car, as they look like they have been on the car a very long time. The paint on the car has shrunk and is checked, so it was converted and painted black 20+ years ago from what the experts that have inspected the car have said. I intend to have it touched up cosmetically when the time comes. Stock shifter is going in this week, as well as a factory steering wheel. next will be ball joints, wheel bearings, and an alignment. We cant find any weld seams, so the car is a 74 911 with 1989 slope nose sheetmetal and brakes. Rear suspension is 911 with wheel spacers. Not 930 as I was told.

I am leaning towards sorting the car and looking upscale and trade it in or sell it online. Grand Turismo or Testarossa come to mind. Shame Countach's are out of my reach. Would love to have one of my own, even for a short time.

If selling it later are your plans, don't change the wheels. You may not like them, but lots of people do. You can always have the centers shot black like the Bad Boys car.

    Great advice, thank you.

Did a lot on the car today, Removed the Hargett shifter, I have a factory shifter ready to go in, we found some cracks where the seats bolt down, so they are getting fixed while the car is naked inside. I installed one of my factory Porsche steering wheels also. I did not like that Momo wheel for some reason.
