IMO no, the Laferrari is a collector car and something what i can use at the weekend and its a beautiful art to look, feel and touch and sometimes in germany sunday morning i can get 80 to 300 KmH below 15 sec as a great feeling of acceleration same with 918 and P1 but only the laferrari is a real investment for the future.
For racing on racetracks I use my 458 challenge is much faster then all this car cheaper in service and maintenance and much more fun for track using.
I think to much discussion is going on about lap times we have to talk about design and art of this cars. And for racing and trackdays buy some kind of challenge car and after 5 Years TCO will be lower with a Hypercar and a Challenge Car; only my 50 cents

Racing slicks on these hypercars, as per a Challenge car, would make them a lot quicker with all the power and downforce they have.

Sounds very cool Jim. Any other cars going to be on track with you? I remember there being a cool Zonda racecar in the garages there

Totally true. As for the time Ferrari is claiming for 0-300 and La Ferrari's claimed weight I hope they're true but reserve judgment until other's weigh it and run it 0-300. I still believe that if P1 is faster at the Ring it will effect the perception of La Ferrari for some.

Investment? Not sure La Ferrari will be a long term one, mostly because of the cost, complexity, and the battery life of it's KERS system but agree that it will be more of one than a P1 or 918.

All of them on "street/cup" tires will be a LOT faster around any race track than a 458 Challenge car for a hot lap.

I think 458 challenge are about 7:15 at The Ring. All of these will easily be below 7.

DRS will make a big difference as well. Fixed wings and non moving aero turn race cars into bricks on long straights assuming cranked in downforce for turns.

I'm trying; I really am; but visually the P1 does nothing for me. Even if it destroys every lap record on every track, it just looks akward. The front end looks like a Tesla S (the grill, although I love the Tesla); the side looks hideous, the bubble look, the side scallops...nothing
The wing being up helps somewhat, even in black, but overall every time I see it I have to struggle to like it. And it shouldn't be that way.
To the people that can afford it, good for them, but its no F1.

Almost everyone who has seen the car in person was left mesmerised by its looks. Have you had the chance to see one in real life, Kevin? :)

I saw the P1 a couple of weeks ago and it's the most beautiful car i have ever seen. The lines of the car is awesome. Pictures don't do justice to it.

Kevin, you must try harder. I see the car in live 2 time already. From the first picture I have my doubt to but when I meeted her at Paris and Geneva I received a big flow of blood to my center of my body. It take a moment to get accustomed to but then you will realise that you are looking at something new for design. It is like staring at an Avatar lady face to face (small Avatar lady). Shockingly beautiful and new and very arousing. What you are saying above is the voice of a tired old man living in a tiny hut in the countryside. You must go outside more and try to scare youself more often, believe me - you will grow to!

Is it just me or does the 918 look awkward? Not impress.

The P1 looks like a bad cartoon. You wouldn't have to alter it much to have it feature in Cars3 or something like that.

It makes the Veyron look like a comprehensive design.

918 seems to be even worse and LaFerrari isn't above all critizism either, although I think out of these it will look best on the open roads.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The 288 was a typical sample of its era; a wedgy supercar with pop-up lights. As nice as it may be it looks old nowadays, exactly because it is old. Some might even say that it was just a super 328. Personally, I like newer designs. I find the LaFerrari just stunning, the best Ferrari yet!
