Have you done software update? Take it to dealer asap before something really happens. Manettino failure seems to me a software glitch and restart usually take it away but in yours, it repeats and I guess there is a real problem.

Welcome to Fchat and congrats on your FF - that is an exceptional car you have acquired!!

With the nearest dealer being so far away you will either need to find someone more local with the Ferrari SD3 service computer. The SD3 is portable too - so if necessary you could even fly someone in.

All the best for a swift resolution!!

Are you using the battery tender? This is almost certainly an electrical issue affecting the entire car (I would guess the battery is the problem, even if the battery is checking out OK on the tests you are running). If you have not been using the battery tender, leave the car on the tender for a couple of days and see if that helps.

I actually had it happen to me too. I left the car by itself for about 2 months and then slowly trickle charged the engine. After I finally got it charged enough to barely start, all the warning lights went on and well, exactly what you wrote. Dealer reset it and it was fine.

I had a similar problem in my 599. I am not sure if the systems are the same but my problem was due to a parking sensor in the front bumper which had failed due to being hit by a pebble on the highway. The electronics system didn't know what to do with the failure and it caused a cascade of warnings even though the car was fine. It began with a manettino failure.... unfortunately you need to bring the car to a dealer or other authorized service facility. I don't know if Ferrari NA covers your area but if they do, I would contact them.

unfortunately you will need to get a technician to look at the car, and they will need a DEIS (the Cali/458/FF/F12 do not use an SD3, they use a newer platform). The DEIS actually connects to the factory, though it's portable.

Your car may be due for a software update, but what you are describing sounds like a fault somewhere. Typically if you had low voltage/bad battery you would see the problems right at startup.

When you cycled the battery, did you follow the (pretty strict) ECU relearning process? It's in manual, IIRC it's all accessories off, boot the car, start and let idle for 10-15mins on a level spot or something. That's a long shot but something you can do yourself.

If no dealer nearby, you probably need to call Ferrari North America, they may be able to point you to the closest dealer; the car is under warranty (good) but you may have to arrange to have a tech come to you ($$).

    good luck

When I first acquired my Neiman Marcus FF as second owner (at 258 miles) I had to go thru all the software updates to correct irregularities and also got battery up to full charge. The battery tender (acceptable charge level) is unfortunately mandatory to get things working sometimes. I'm fortunate that my dealer is only 25 miles away so less than 45 minutes in traffic. I had several service visits for pending service campaigns and irregularities (seatbelt assist) in first year. At this point (with 2300 miles) I'm relatively comfortable that car will start and not misbehave (except for the recurrent failure of seatbelt handover).

Don't they fly in a tech from Jamaica or something? Is the car is still under warranty?

We had a person from Colombia last year with a problem with his 458 and I think that's what they did. But, his car was under warranty.

If the car runs, that's not too bad. Maybe just a sensor problem or software. At least it runs!

Sounds like you have a possible 4wd issue. 4wd faults cause all kinds of errors to come on. They have had problems with fluid leaks between the two halves of the PTU (front wheel drive control). What happens is, the fluid from the side that controls the clutches leaks into the side with the gears due to the difference in pressure. This causes the fluid in the critical side to become low and air ends up in the hydraulic system. There is a fill cap for the reservoir on the left side of the engine bay behind the left(drivers) headlight. It's buried underneath a engine bay cover witch I believe takes a 4mm allen tool to remove the bolts connecting. It's easy though.
The fluid the system takes is Shell Donax TX. Try to add a little bit of fluid at a time and drive it to see how it reacts. Don't add more than 3/4 of a quart. This is just an educated guess obviously but I would say you don't have many other options that don't require a DEIS. If you are able to correct it, obviously get it worked on asap because you still have the leaking problem.

I think they have a dealer in the Caribbean who handles Central America as their territory. Maybe Puerto Rico.

Hi all. Still the same problem. I dont know what to do. FNA told me they Cant go out from the dealer position. I need to take it to the dealer. Thats something incredible. I read something up about de 4wd oil reservoir. So im gonna check it up. The car has 2 weeks on ferrari charger. The same . Battery test ok. So i,ll check the 4wd fluid. And ill let you know. If this does not work i will put the car in a ship over the sea so take it to miami. I cant beleave this is happening. More than a month without the car.

Sorry for you're trouble. From where did you order the car? When you imported,... what was your plan for warranty work / service?

Mine was worse, transmission went to "N" addition to what you decribed on freeway with 100 miles an hour, almost got killed because speed dropped suddenly.

Dealer said, they found the ground wire fault, but I think they are lying because I claim for Lemon for this FF now they starting show their face.

Anyway, your problem is cannot be fix easy, my FF went to service more than 4 times already and .................. I was wondering why they named FF, now I think I know what FF stand for.

    Finitele:

The N-M edition was from their October 2011 released Christmas catalog and is a standard FF mechanically. Neiman-Marcus does a specialty car each Christmas. They've done Ferrari FF, McLaren spider, Aston Martin, etc. The FF was grigio caldo exterior (custom color), included 6 piece luggage set, had rear seat video entertainment and other useless extras. It had only rear parking camera (would have preferred front-rear), heated seats (would have preferred heated-cooled). It did include a driver-guest package for Ferrari's winter driving experience. So for $407K, you get distinction of owning 1 of 10 cars which in following year might be spec'ed for $30-50K less. It was ordered thru N-M, so no Ferrari long waitlists (orders delivered in Spring 2012). Just $$ required and calling customer service on the date that calls were accepted.

A new FF comes with the rear parking camera and heated seats for less than 300K. They are called "Needless Markup" for good reason.
